It's Halloween! Which means if you have kids, you're gearing up for a big party this weekend. Costumes, candy, decorations and of course some fun fun treats for the kids to eat other than Sugar Daddy's and Smarties. (Not that there's anything wrong with those!)
Here's a great Halloween treat, a variation on the classic Rice Krispies Treats, that will have adults & kids drooling like vampires!
And here's a picture of the
satisfied Padawan-Wan. This picture was taken in 2003, so he had only just turned 2!
...............
sorry, i drifted off there for a second, trying to figure out where 5 years have gone....
PADAWAN-WAN'S SPIDERWEB CRUNCH
2 Cups (12 oz, 1 regular bag) of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 Cup creamy peanut butter - divided
1/3 Cup powdered/confectioner's sugar
3 Cups Rice Krispies
[1] HEAT chocolate chips and 3/4 C. of the peanut butter in a double boiler over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat, add sugar. Stir vigorously until smooth.
[2] Place cereal in a large bowl. Add 1 C. of the chocolate mixture and stir until coated. Put this all into a 10 or 12 inch pie pan, pressing it firmly into the sides & leveling off the top. Pour remaining chocolate mixture onto the center. Spread w/rubber stirrer to within about a 1/2 inch of the sides of the pan.
-=edit=- I just made a spiderweb for Halloween and what I ended up doing was mixing ALL the chocolate/peanut butter mixture into the rice krispies - in other words, I did not spread any over the top. It did not mess up anything and in fact I think it made the whole candy just a bit more chocolate-y. mmmm......... So there ya go, another easy option.
[3] To make the WEB: put remaining peanut butter into a plastic baggie, cut a small (very small) hole in the corner. Pipe onto chocolate in concentric circles. Use a toothpick to pull from center to edges to form the spider web design.
[4] CHILL for 30 minutes in the refrigerator. Present the spider web with a big fake plastic spider for the full effect! Cut into wedges to serve.
12-16 servings
or if you live in OUR house, we polished that puppy off in one night.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!
