Soundtrack of my Life
Thanks Dan for inspiring me to do this! The idea is that if you set you iPod on shuffle, the first 18 songs are the soundtrack of your life. Can't wait... Here we go!!

Opening Credits:
You Oughta Know by Alanis Morrisette (Jagged Little Pill). Awesome! I'm starting with a bang, thankfully those days of angry young womanhood are behind me. (and Alanis, too!)

Waking Up:
Great Indoors by John Mayer (Room for Squares). Nice choice iPod o'mine. "Pull up the shades & wander the great indoors."

First Day At School:
Captain Jim's Drunken Dream by James Taylor (In The Pocket). Right vintage, but I didn't even know this song was ON my iPod! LOL! My husband must have put it on there.

Falling In Love:
We Never Change by Coldplay (Parachutes). Wow... my iPod is on a roll. A slow dance to fall in love to. And not just any slow dance: a dance w/chills.

Fight Song:
Lubbock or Leave It by Dixie Chicks (Taking the Long Way). OH MY GOD! I can't believe this came up! This is absolutely perfect & I couldn't love this song any more!!

Breaking Up:
Thomas' Anthem by Thomas the Tank Engine (Thomas' Songs & Roundhouse Tunes). YIKES! It's like my iPod is laughing at me. The last time I broke up with anyone was 13 years ago, so I guess this song is just as funny as that break up!

Prom:
This Boy by The Beatles (Past Masters, Vol. 1). Again, out of the ballpark, iPod! My senior prom... I had just broken up with my high school sweetheart. He spent the whole prom staring at me & finally got the nerve up to ask me to dance. It was a moment I'll never forget, we didn't say a word.

Life:
Faith by George Michael (Ladies & Gentlemen). This is high school vintage for me. I have vivid memories of my life & times around the release of this song!!

Mental Breakdown:
Everything About It Is A Love Song by Paul Simon (Surprise). Sounds innocent enough, but that opening guitar riff in the background says nothing short of "mental breakdown". Of course, the lyrics are awesomely appropriate!

Driving:
Sick & Beautiful by Artificial Joy Luck Club. SWEEET!!! One of my favorites to crank in the car anyway.

Flashback:
Hello Little Girl by The Beatles (Anthology 1). It just sounds like a flashback. Too bad I wasn't alive in the 1950's!

Getting Back Together:
Under The Weather by KT Tunstall. iPod iPod how I love thee & your infinite wisdom. Wow... I'm gonna stop here & just listen to this one the whole way through...

Wedding:
What's Love Got To Do With It by Tina Turner! OMG! Did you hear that thud?! That was me hitting the floor from laughing so hard!

Birth of Child:
The Christmas Tree/Carol for a Christmas Tree/It's In Every Heart by John Denver & the Muppets (A Christmas Together). Pshaw! Too bad. This one could have been more sentimental, but whatever.

Final Battle:
Me In Honey by REM (Out of Time). Sweet! Take that arch-nemesis whoever you are.

Death Scene:
Your Cloud by Tori Amos (Scarlet's Walk). Um... is my iPod psychic? This will bring me to tears if I think about the category you want me to put this song into!

Funeral Song:
Norwegian Wood by The Beatles (Anthology 2). LOL! I want to be cremated, though.

End Credits:
Missing by Beck (Guero). Perfect ending to a psychotic sound track.

Thanks Dan! This was a hoot!!

I would go to battle with Me In Honey playing. Out of Time was the first CD that I ever bought, after owning a few hundred cassettes that became obsolete. X-(

Sounds like a good idea. Might try it sometime, when I have a spare moment.
Will it affect the results if I frequently listen to my music on shuffle anyway?

NB - for those without iPods, this doesn't have to be done on an iPod. Anything with your entire collection of music and a shuffle mode will suffice (i.e. Computer with Windows Media Player will be fine).

I will have to try that. But the songs I listen to on my i-pod are limited. My sister controls i-tunes so I have the songs she likes and Star Wars. But I will still have to try it.

As I suspected mine was just too weird although the final battle did come up as the theme from Superman which was cool. Others ranged form Monty Python skits to SW soundtrack to Lebonese Pop Music and to the cowboy Bebop soundtrack and Queen.
