I'm a busy guy always on the lookout for new friends to neglect. Thank goodness social networking sites allow me to add people to my lists and immediately begin ignoring these folks who I don't really know anyway, and use my willingness to press "accept" as a barometer of my basic popularity.

But sometimes that even that takes too long. And it's hard to control who you're getting. Thank goodness for shortcuts. The Internet "sock" is a tried and true invention, and allows me to construct from thin air the kind of people I want to be my friends. A Google image search of attractive folks ensures that only blue-chip, quality people are now being added to my friends roster.
