So Now There's Ten...
Think about it. Six Star Wars movies and four Indy movies makes 10 blockbusters -- perfect for ranking in pointless top ten lists that only cause consternation and bickering.

So, without further ado, let's rank these suckers from best to ... well, let's just say not best.

1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
2. Star Wars
3. The Empire Strikes Back
4. Revenge of the Sith
5. The Temple of Doom
6. The Phantom Menace
7. Return of the Jedi
8. Attack of the Clones
9. The Last Crusade
10. The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I can't say that I agree with your ranking. Everyone has a right to his/her own opinion, however. ;)

Is it that bad? I'm going today to watch it... I just hope I'm not wasting my time or I'll regret not watching Iron Man either.

BTW Pablo, I tried to send you an e-mail through the blog service, but your account has some problems!

For me, I find my least favorite SW movie better than my favorite Star Trek movie(and I love both franchises).

So, is Indy IV bad or is it just not as good?

Wow, Raiders tops your list, huh?

Y'know, though, when they're all good movies and I like them all, I can't really argue with any rankings.

Oh, I've definitely got some opinions about Kingdom, but I'll wait the long weekend to let people see it on their own.

And Dunc, over the years I think Temple of Doom has gotten so much better with age, while Last Crusade has gone the opposite direction.

Crusade is my personal favorite, and while I would never argue it against Ark because I feel they're both equally good and a lot of my preference probably stems from personal circumstance, Temple of Doom just... falls flat to me. (Plus: Willie Scott, more annoying than Jar-Jar?) And I certainly would put it above TPM and AOTC...

We'll just have to agree to disagree. ;)

Oh, I won't even begin to defend Willie, but she's only one character. For me, Indy, Henry, Sallah, and Brody are all competing to out-mug and out-goof each other, and it's just embarrassing.

I can understand its appeal, I just don't share it. Sorta like Star Trek IV. People love it. It drives me up the wall.

indy movies for me have always been about the roller coaster ride, not the plot, acting, or even the mcguffin the characters are after. As long as the story doesn't involve indy's broken hip i'm fine with it.

I dont necessarily agree on where some other movies are but to each his own. I've found that people who were introduced at age 6 to Episode I likes the PT more than the OT.

Here's mine, but for the record, it fluctuates:

1. TESB
2. SW
3. Raiders
4. Last Crusade
5 and 6 are now tied: ROTS and KOTCS
7. ROTJ
8. AOTC
9. Temple of Doom
10. TPM

But really, it depends on my mood at any given moment :D

Wow, I extremely disagree with your ranking.

Crystal Skull was better than Doom, ROTJ was better than Doom, Crusade was better than Raiders, ROTJ was better than almost everything.

IMO, of course.

(And Crystal Skull has no business being on the same shelf as that film).

I gotta ask -- were you "inside" this movie at all, like you've been on other LFL productions? Inside enough to, say, have stuff spoiled for ya? 'Cause I went into Kingdom pretty cold, and while it may not have been perfect, it was still awesome.

i saw Indy 4 last night, and i loved it. i had read some bad reviews about it, and one said that it was the same thing, like the other 3 Indy films with the action adventure thing and an artifact to find, but it's obvious... it's Indy! and that's what he does...as an archaeologist and part time teacher.
but like everyone said, we all have our own opinions. for me, i just like all of them the same. KOTCS was pretty interesting to me, but it's and Indiana Jones movie, so what else would people expect to see from him?!... a sniper spy? just think of any movie that's not related to Indy or star wars and try fitting Indy there...yep... no, he doesn't fit there... and now i wanna go see Indy 4 again..

The credicts are saying Crystal Skull is the best. You guys are saying it's not as good as the others. I havn't seen it yet, and my biggest consern is that it won't feel like your watchin an Indy movie. Oh and as Cowboy 11c put it... NO STAR WARS AT THE TOP SLOTE!...shameful. Just kidding everyones got their own opinion.........................................................................]:) ]:) ]:)

I almost entirely agree with this ranking, but I'd swap ROTJ and Phantom Menace, and Kingdom with Last Crusade. I'm not really a fan of Last Crusade - it was kind of the ROTJ of the Indy series...more Nazis (more Death Star), and too self-referential and jokey. Kingdom definetly had some problems (it almost entirely lost me when Shia started swinging on the jungle vines, and I was only hanging on by my fingernails at the end), but it was more engaging to me than Crusade.

(some SPOILERS)
I'm a huge fan of the old pulps, and what I loved was that while Raiders and Doom were set in the 30's, they played out like pulp fiction of that time (secret murder cults, punching out Nazis etc), and this one, set in the 50's, feels exactly like 50's era pulp (spacemen, and punching out Commies). My wife said it best - the fun stuff was fun, but the serious stuff was glazed over (Mutt's almost immediate acceptance of his father, Marion mainly just being there as a plot device and not having much to do, the out of left field wedding...a little too much complexity for an adventure series, and not well handled). It was still more fun to me than Crusade though.

Stooge, I wasn't as inside as before. Early on, it became apparent this was more Spielberg and Paramount than Lucasfilm, and that was okay. So, I passed on reading the script. I knew the "25-slide Powerpoint version" of the story -- including how it ended. Funny enough, one of the parts I thought would be the worst ended up being quite okay -- the Doom Town fridge sequence. But the movie quickly caved for me after Indy left the States.

Mine would look like this (kinda):

1. The Empire Strikes Back
2. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
3. The Phantom Menace
4. A New Hope
5. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
6. Return of the Jedi
7. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
8. Revenge of the Sith
9. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal SKull
10. Attack of the Clones

Kinda.... it's hard to rank these great films.

wow. Raiders is terrific but I don't own it. I've only seen Doom once. I definitely agree with your last place though. Skull is almost, nearly terrible. I like the beginning (except - hot rods racing by a secret government facility, Indy in the fridge, cgi varmits) Bike escape @ Yale was terrific...but can't find another thing positive, except Cate and some of Shia.

Having Indy say I have a bad feeling about this gave ME a bad feeling about this.

5. Star Wars
6. Phantom Menace
7. Return of the Jedi
8. Last Crucade
9. Temple of Doom
11.Crystal Skull - because the next one HAS to be better

I agree with Pantless Wookiee... it's hard to rank this films! But like Pablo said, now that they're 10, it's good to list them from Great to Almost Great!

I had a wonderfull time watching Crystal Skull... It's nice to see Indiana once again. Maybe I'm getting old and nostalgic, but I love new-movies-like-seems-like-old-movies.

Well, I think it's time for the new guys now (the Seth's and CGI stuff...) But to all old-Indy's of the world... Unite! (...and retire...).

I really dug Crystal Skull; not even in the same solar system as Raiders (my top 3 is the same as yours, btw) but certainly on par with the sequels. Kind of fell apart at the end, but much love for the A-bomb test, comic-book commies, the warehouse sequence, Pancho Villa, swordfighting on moving cars, Karen Allen's smile, the Wilhelm, army ants, the mentions of Indy's unknown WWII heroics, the American Graffiti nods, and "I'm not a triple agent, I just lied about being a double."
