I'm lucky enough to own one of the first-run SotME Darth Vaders.
You know.... before they had to recall them because kids kept choking on the Kaiburr Crystal.

Pabawan, Im sure you remember the scene in which I refer to with Grammel and the recording rod... :O ...even by TODAYS standards that was pretty darn graphic for a Star Wars novel...I always wondered how Alan Dean Foster managed to get that in?

The slaughter of the stormtroopers by the Coway is also pretty grim and graphic, including such passages as:

She found Luke stalking wild-eyed among the carnage, trying to dissuade the hooting, yelping Coway from reducing the wounded to small pieces. Breathing out the nausea of battle, he jerked around and glared at her when she grabbed his arm.

"They're killing the wounded," he cried in anguish. "Look at them... look what they're doing."

OK, that does it....Im re-reading Splinter, starting tonight.

I still have the old paperback, copyright 1978....brown and faded but still intact.

I USED to have most of the old classic Marvel line when I was a kid...long story short, my mother made me sell them....:_|

Thanks for the trip down memory lane though...

PS Jaxxon was the green rabbit, right?

Yea...I had that one...:(

C'mon....ya missed the one classic figure that EVERYONE in 1978 wanted (after the Bea Arthur "Ackmena" that is)...

Harvey Korman's "Chef Gormaanda" including utensils!

And maybe the ultra-deluxe Jefferson Starship box set with wierd Lava-lamp display stage....

Attichitcuk -- With Mind Evaporator

Hm, surely this one would have to be geared towards a more...adult market? Itchy has dubious tastes when it comes to the old Mind Evaporator... ;)

Hah.

Believe it or not, Kenner did plan Holiday Special toys, but they were never released (for better or worse.)

Wow, you guys already beat me to it. Pablo already even made the "fan club exclusive" comment!

Wow. Some old references so obscure, you need an endnotes blog. Well, not for me, but for some of the children around here... :)

OK, Pablo. Here's the line-up for 1979 before you beat me to it!

I guess Pablo has me on a "fanciful retro kick" now, too... This is kinda fun. Anyone want me to continue with '80, '81, etc...?

JMMC: nice work...I'd try to continue but my memory simply isnt nearly as good...

Well, I have to admit this wasn't all off the top of my head. TheForce.net, Wookieepedia, and other stuff online refreshed my memory. Plus, a couple of TPBs nearby helped...

Maybe I'll continue later on... Stay tuned for 1980. :)

This really brought a smile to my face.

I wasn't even born yet in 1978, nor do I collect action figures much these days, but I would have to buy most of those Marvel ones! I mean, who could pass up a Crimson Jack action figure? Or a Jaxxon and Amaiza two pack! Awesomeness. :)

Pablo strikes gold again.... :)

OK, let's continue this silliness: 1980. :)

Does anybody else care? Ah, it doesn't matter... 1982 :p

Whatever. 1983

Can't stop me... 1984 ]:)
JMMC

And, finally... 1985. That'll be all. The only thing left in 1986 are a few more Marvel issues and maybe some Ewoks and Droids stuff. But they had their own toys, anyway. I think the West End Games stuff starts up in '87, but that's just too obscure for me... :)

Nice stuff :) Well there are several things I'd very much like to see being made in plastic. I'll always prefer Valance (Super Articulated) to all these Mara Jade-like 'characters'. And why not make a huge Wandrella :p And Grammel with removable synthflesh ...
