Costuming From a Galaxy Far Far Away
Hello everyone!! First of all, I would like to send a special *Thank You* to Kenobi-Fan for his latest entry. I truly felt honoroed and humbled to have been chosen for his latest Blog Challenge. Secondly, I would like to send a shout-out to my fellow costumer, Jediprincess77 who, not so long ago, dedicated an entry to me :x . She is actually quite the seamstress herself!!

I first learned to sew when I was in elementary school. I was a member of a club called *4-H.* Now, I do not remember what the 4 H's were, but I do remember the meetings, the projects, and competing in the county fair (and once at the state fair). When I entered High School, I, sadly, was no longer able to continue participating in this wonderful organization :( . Then college and graduate school came along, and I surely had no time for sewing. I did a few projects here and there, but nothing major.

Well, then how is it, you may ask, did someone such as myself get so addicted to costuming? Well...it all happened by surprise. For Halloween last year (2005), I wanted to dress as Padme'...but the only pre-made costumes I could find of hers were the red invasion gown from TPM and the white battle outfit from AOTC. Those surely would not work for me. I did some searching online, and came across the Padawan's Guide, and found the costume I wanted to do: the Mustafar outfit. I did my research, found patterns and fabric, and went to work on it. Here is the finished product (yes, it is hanging from one of my doors).

While searching for patterns for this first costume, I came across the pattern for the veranda nightgown from ROTS. I could not resist making this, since the pattern was so close...so I bought what I needed and finished that one up too. Here are the pics for this one.

I took some time off from sewing because the holidays came around, and I was not sure what other costumes I wanted to do. After making those first two outfits, I really wanted to make another...but which one? Well...after much thought, I decided on the Meadow Picnic Gown from AOTC. Now this one was a great undertaking...with all of the research on the costume, the searching for fabric and supplies, and the actual sewing of the costume. I actually hand embroidered everything but the cape...but even then, I tacked on non-dyed soaked rose clusters over the dye-soaked ones. I was afraid I would not finish this one in time for Halloween...but I did, and with about a week or so to spare. Some of you have already seen pics of this costume...and some of you have seen the *real deal* (and you know who you are ;) ). Those of you going to CIV will have the opportunity to see this gown if you happen to run into me the day I am wearing it. OK...without further ado, I present to you the Meadow Picnic Gown created and worn by me :D (sorry, no pictures of me...not ready to reveal myself that way just yet)

I am currently in the process of finishing the purple Loyalist Committee gown from AOTC and then will be on to Leia's Bespin outfit (which I hope to have finished by CIV)!!

I just wanted to share this with all of you...especially now that my "little secret" has been revealed by K-fan ;) I hope you all enjoyed the pics...and, as I said before, some of you will be able to see the real ones come CIV!!

As always...comments are welcome!!

May the Force Be With You All :x

Bravo, my dear, BRAV-O!! :D You are just amazing!
Let me tell ya, fellow bloggers, these costume replica's are unbelievably ASTOUNDING!
See, I was able to get up close with these garments and sample them personally. They are incredibly close to the originals, featured in in the films. I myself was quite impressed and taken back, when I first saw them. Absolutely Marvelous, my darling friend!
You are truly a natural talent and should be proud of what you have accomplished.:x I can not wait to see the other two at CIV. Thanks for sharing your Creativity with us! XOXO ~Angel~:x

Wow. That's all I have to say. Wow.
And by the way, if you want to spell Padmé with the accent, type "Padm", then type "Alt" then "130". That'll give you the accent!
But still. Wow.

it is so true that everyone has a talent, and you surely have made the most of yours, ps77!

the meadow picnic gown is my absolute favorite; you have done it tremendous justice!!! i remember reading somewhere that they had to carry her out into the grass because the fabric was so delicate, and they didn't want it to tear . . .

i love that you have found a way to combine two of your passions, SW and costume-making. i really look forward to seeing a few of these in person (my daughter too!!!) :D

Hello!
I am an avid Padme costumer as well! It's always nice to meet someone into the same stuff as me.

Your costumes are beautiful. Especially the picnic gown! It looks like it was a lot of hard work. One of these I shall tackle that gown.

May the force be with you,

Soooo beautiful as I've told you before, but that deserves saying again, dear friend!! :)

I'm not a costumer myself, nor a costume wearer, but I would love to have and wear the Leia Bespin outfit. Hubby and I have talked about that one and about having someone make it for me since I can't do it myself (well enough, anyway... I can make a skirt, but that's about it!).

So gorgeous! I can't wait to see the "real deal"!! :D

Thank you to everyone!! I am truly humbled by all of your comments :8} . I just spent the past few hours battling it out with some sequins and beads...I cannot wait to be finished with those :D

And you are too sweet for the shout-out!

Not a problem...you paid homage to me, so I thought I would give you some credit too :x

Oh my goodness- can I beg for you to send me info on the nightgown???

Sure...I'll send you an email in the morning (or, more than likely afternoon by the time I get up ;) ). I will have to dig out the pattern and the other info I kept.

Ahhh...yes. Thank you :) I cannot remember the 4th one either. Oh well.

The patience it took to embroider the Meadow Picnic gown--incredible!

Much patience indeed. The outer, embroidered layer to the skirt and top is silk chiffon...very delicate. :O Only a few snags, though.

I look forward to seeing you at C4 in all your finery

Thanks nob01...I hope I can live up to the expecations ;)

Thanks Leia...and your welcome :)

Thaks DM517 :)

I'm an amatuer next to you, I can't do anything without a pattern....!

I only free-handed the vining/flowers on the skirt and top, the roses on the headband, and the snoods (bun holders). I traced the pattern for the corset onto some stabilizer, so I was able to get that close. :)

I rembember that too, Brooke. And if it is anything like the fabric I used, it sure is delicate!! Thank you :)

Beautiful job!

Thanks Miss Padme :)

:^O I am learning so much about the world of sewing it's not even funny :p . I hope to have that Bespin outfit done...I had hoped to be working on it now, but that hasn't happened. I may need to stay away from the computer a little until I can get that under way :O . Who am I kidding...I will just have to cut back on the time I spend online :D

Thanks again HG3 :x
