I did not have the luxury of being around in 1977, and for that, I am not sorry. I am a child of the 90's, and nothing can change that. I was not the son of an avid Star Wars parent or even the friend of a fan. How I came into the galaxy is beyond me, but I have seen the Star Wars trilogy in a different way than most of you.
I did not see the original theatrical version. I saw the Special Edition, a work of special effect mastery. I was introduced into the world of Anakin Skywalker before I truly understood what role he played as Darth Vader. It was Episode I that triggered a long-dormant fan base in me. I was cut off form the internet until a few years after the Phantom Menace release, so I had no idea it was coming.
I learned the tradgedy of Darth Vader not as other knew it, but as it unfolding from stem to stern. Sure I had seen the originals, but I could not comprehend their meanings at such a young age. By the time Episode II rolled around, I was like a regular fan, one who could outdo a few veterans in a game of trivia.
Episode III was the premiere of a lifetime, an experience I will never forget or have again. What it means to have missed Star Wars in the 70's is insignificant next to experiencing Star Wars in my own age, the next generation of Die-Hard Fans.
