Some time ago I wrote
an entry on the mystery of the Chiss bartender discussing his identity (and his grammar impairment). One especially interesting thing was a quotation appearing in the RPG source text called
Zeltros: Pleasure Planet which cited a bartender whose grammar was suspiciously similar to that of the mysterious bartender.
I wasn't the only one who was intrigued by this; so was the ever inquisitive Wookieepedian
Cull Tremayne. Earlier this year, Cull contacted Cory Herndon, the writer of
Zeltros: Pleasure Planet, and asked him whether Baldarek and the Chiss bartender were one and the same person, and, by the Force, they were the same person.
So, now the Bartender has a name - and that's
Baldarek (which happens to be a derivative of "Baldric", Blackadder's dimwitted manservant), and the bartender now also has parts of a backstory, as we now know that he spent at least a week on Zeltros and, obviously, had an immensely good time there.
Great work by both Cull Tremayne in unravelling this mystery and Cory Herndon in creating a totally cool piece of retcon!!!
