Over this Easter weekend, I watched the Original Trilogy and
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. (good times, good times...

) Every time I was about to put one of my beloved Lucasfilm movies in, I invited either my parents or my brother to watch them with me. Tragically, none of them think much of either SW or Indy

!
My parents are FROM the original SW generation (they were teenagers at the time). They both saw it, my mom liked it but got tired of it later. My dad didn't think it was very great! My brother just thinks they're corny and tacky

I am the only one in the family who became obsessed with both of these movies as soon as I saw them. I thought SW was just great all together and I fell in love with Indy..... *swoon*

And the movie was great...
But sometimes you can't deny it. We all know that some of the dialogue in Indy AND SW is kinda goofy. In the end though, those scripts are some of the most quotable in history. The movies are timeless because of GL's insight. I saw Star Wars and Indiana Jones for the first time well after their 20 year anniversaries. Even though some of the effects are dated, I still found the movies entertaining!
Another thing about Indy and SW is that both plot lines are timeless. The characters are archetypes that have been in every well known story since the beginning of humanity. They don't looks or use language that should easily be dated. With all the special editions coming, you can't even tell the age by the camera quality. Many of the movies that are out now will be forgotten in 10-20 years! I would not be surprised if my *grandchildren* still love Star Wars. The movies can be watched time and time again without ever getting old. There are always new things to be noticed and new things to think about. My dad and brother are both huge movie lovers. But after they see a movie once, they never think about watching it again, even if they really enjoyed it!
Ah well, such are the troubles are being born a SW geek into a non-SW geek family

Comments are always welcome!!
