Orchestrating the Galaxy Part IV: On Horn, Mr. Kenobi
This is Part IV in a series where I am exploring what instruments various Star Wars characters play. Check out Part I, Part II, and Part III by following these links.

I asked myself, what instrument Obi-Wan would play. I couldn't think of anything that made sense. Then I started visualizing what he would look like playing various instruments. Just imagine Obi-Wan Kenobi playing the French Horn. He is seated, embracing the sinuously twisted horn. And, I don't know about you, but somehow that image just makes me want to go up and hug him. You know that episode of M*A*S*H* where the nurse "hugged the stuffing out of" the father, like that. Obi-Wan would probably have a similar reaction.
Anyway, once I got this gorgeous image in my head, I could not conceive of him playing any other instrument. And I realized that it actually fits when you think about it. The French Horn has a warm tone and a sound that can vary from soft and soothing to energetic and rousing, and sometimes both at the same time. This is fits his caring nature and, just pick a movie and listen to his voice, it can be soothing or stern, but always with an authority that makes you want to listen. Obi-Wan could have been a great politician, but he chose a higher calling.
You might think I'm nuts, and I probably am, but tell me what you think. And check out the links, they are there for your listening pleasure.
