Twin Peaks Coming to DVD - Finally!
Well, my title is a bit misleading - actually Twin Peaks Season 2 is coming to DVD on April 3, and I tell ya, it's like the Dalai Lama coming home to Tibet (a little Peaks humor there).

Yes, I admit it, in addition to being a huge Star Wars fan, I am an unabashed Peaks freak. I know, I know -- the show only lasted a season and a half between 1990-91, but there's something so seductive about it -- a murder mystery among the Douglas firs, where a cup of coffee, donuts, and a slice of cherry pie are your ticket to a postmodernist dream world of red rooms, dancing little men, scorched engine oil, and a supernatural psycho named BOB -- how can you not love this stuff?

Anyone who's a Peaks fan knows that we've been clamoring to get the show's 20-plus-episodes from the second season on DVD for years now, ever since the first season debuted over five years ago. Granted, Season One was a compressed and cohesive 7 episodes that laid the groundwork for the series, and overall has been more highly acclaimed than the neglected second season (the series reached some embarrassing lows around episode 20), but there are many reasons to love Season Two -- the intoxicating 16th episode where a second murder takes place, the revelation of BOB's host on earth, Cooper's return to the red room, etc. I can't wait to see these again - it's literally been over 10 years since I foolishly dumped my old videotapes in a move, and regretted it ever since.

I've found it interesting that almost every Peaks fan I know is also a Star Wars fan - maybe it has to do with the fantasy components, or the groundbreaking vision shared by their creators, or the intensely visual experience they both provide. In any case, it's great fun, and you're guaranteed to be sucked in after the first episode. Highly recommended, if you care to take the plunge. And if you do, I'll see you in the trees...

hey do any of the rest of you wish David Lynch would have at least done one last follow up TV movie to fill us all in on what happened to Agent Cooper after he was possesed by BOB in that last ep??? I mean, what a horrible way to leave us all hanging!

By the end of its run it was getting a bit over the top but all in all I enjoyed every moment of it..makes me wanna go have some pie and a damn fine cup of coffee...

DJ Maul -- What, Cooper's 'How's Annie' line didn't tie up all the loose ends for you? :)

I'd always hoped for a follow-up series, but Lynch has repeatedly said he'll never go back to Peaks (although he loves the series -- he just doesn't want to disturb the way it's comfortably settled into pop mythology). Fire Walk With Me offered some answers, even though it was a prequel, but there are still many nagging questions, as you suggest -- especially, what happens to Cooper.

I hope Lynch changes his mind someday -- perhaps he'll consider it in 2015 -- "25 years later"...

true, and at this point I suppose any answer they try to sum it all up with will be unsatisfactory, so us fans will just have to supply our own ending.

When the show was at it's...well, PEAK, I remember we had Twin Peaks viewing parties, especially for when the new season started after Cooper got shot...we of course served pies and coffee.

I still remember how powerful the episode where Leeland was fully revealed as being possesed by BOB and the emotions he ran through as he lay dying and realized he had murdered his own daughter...it was an incredible piece of acting I will never forget.

I loved Twin Peaks back in the day. I remember watching the last episode with a bunch of my college friends.
