I Have You Now!

There is another...
In ESB, right after Luke leaves Daggobah (sp?) to rescue his friends, Obi-Wan's ghost an Yoda are talking. Obi says something like, "That boy is our last hope". Yoda replies, "No, there is another". According to ROTS, Obi is well aware of the fact that Luke has a sibling (Obi was with Padme when the twins were born!) During Yoda's and Obi's above conversation, why does it sound like Obi-Wan doesn't know about Leia? Did Obi automatically discount Leia because she wasn't a Force-sensitive or a Jedi or a Jedi-in-training? Or did I miss something?
I realize this blog might sound nit-picky, and I realize that the OT and the PT were made 20-30 years apart, but significant continuity errors really bug me, and I'm trying to reconcile the continuity within the OT and the PT. I was never really a big SW fan until ROTS, which really touched me, and now I have so many questions! I welcome your comments, thanks! :D

the reason (i think) that obi discounted leia was that luke had a bigger influence on his dad
and leia is a force sensetive ;)

I would go with what Darth Kore says plus Leia has been in politics her whole life and Obi-Wan just doesn't trust any politicians after what he has seen and been through.

obi wan may not have realised she was force sensitive remember he took luke to tatooine and live a short way from the larrs farm to look after him and had no contact with liea.

Well I guess there are "in-universe" answer to this, and I suppose thats what youre looking for. Which I personally believe are the fact that Obi-Wan knows Luke and knows what he can do, but does not have that connection to Leia.
On the practical, "why was it in the movie?" side. It was stated by GL, I believe in the ESB comentary, that that line was used so the audience felt some uncertainty. If they felt that there "is another" then maybe Luke wasnt the big hero of the saga, and possibly might die at the hands of Vader. If the audience knows there is another, then maybe thats who will save the day at the end.

i know what youre talking about fan5, but i think youre reading too much into obiwan's reaction. we know now that at that point in the filmmaking process that luke and leia were siblings and obiwan knew. i also dont want to go so far as to say that obiwan is discrediting leia, but he did put all of his jedi investments into luke confronting vader. otherwise obiwan knew that leia was in the political domain of things, and she was obviously doing her part that way. yoda was just doing his thing that he does by always teaching a lesson - reminding obiwan that there is more than one option.

but we all have our own way of seeing things in SW - thats whats so wonderful about it.

jkthunder, I see your point. And my nature is that I do read into things! At first, after seeing the prequels, I saw that ESB scene as a continuity error, but I was hoping that other people had an explanation that I didn't think of or know about. I see what you're saying about Yoda teaching a lesson; I think that the prequels did a great job of bringing out more of Yoda's personality, and he is not one to let something go by when there could be a lesson learned. Thanks for your insight!
