 | Nothing Like the Real Thing |
The saying is true: "There's nothing like the real thing". Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting, in the flesh, three of our fellow bloggers: JediPug, MelindaWolf, and I went to JP77's Senior Recital in Jazz Performance. The only way I can describe the evening is, what a treat!
Pug, Melinda, and I got to spend some quality time together on the way into the city. Of course we talked about SW, but we also talked about personal things, and I feel like we got to know each other a lot better. These two ladies are intelligent, funny, and kind (and SNARKY! ). Those of you who think you know how generous Melinda is, as she's demonstrated with her SW raffles, you don't know the half of it! She insisted on paying for all of our dinners and would not take NO for an answer! JediPug and I had to literally stuff the money into her hand! Melinda, you are too kind!
JP77 gave a breathtaking performance. She is one TALENTED Jedi princess! Her vocal range is amazing, and she put heartfelt emotion and soul into each of her songs. And what's an SW fan's performance without elements of he greatest Saga of all time? JP cleverly incorporated her love of SW with a small bouquet on the stage with a figurine of a Bith, she wrote a song about Luke and his dreams that only an SW fan would "get", (as Luke's name wasn't actually mentioned in the lyrics), and she arranged a funky scat version of the Cantina Song we all know and love! Believe me, you have not heard that song until you've heard JP and her crew perform it!
After the performance, there was a small reception. Pug, Melinda, and I each got a huge hug from JP, and we got to meet her parents. She introduced us as her "Star Wars friends", and the surprised, brightened look on her dad's face was priceless. JP and her family really appreciated us coming out to support her, and her professor commented that he hadn't seen such a large turn-out at other Senior Recitals.
Besides meeting JP & co., the highlight of the reception was munching on Wookie Cookies! YUM! I've gotta get that recipe!
I'm so happy I got the opportunity to meet these sweet, talented ladies. I feel like my world has opened up a little bit more. I know I'll meet more of you in the near future, and I can't wait! C4, here we come!
***edit***
I can't believe I forgot to mention this: talk about generous...JediPug was kind enough to give me, Melinda, and JP awesome SW Lego Mini Bulding Sets! What a cool surprise! Thanks, Pug!

Isn't life grand when we get to meet? I'm so glad you had a wonderful time with these two girls from the Crew. I wish I could have been there. What a rockin good time that would have been.

AAAAWWWW!!! Too sweet!!
It was so WONDERFUL to meet you! And I'm glad you had a good time! You ladies really made my day super special!!!
Figrin D'an was a little mad at me for not introducing the Crew to him. (He'll get over it.)
Those of you who think you know how generous Melinda is, as she's demonstrated with her SW raffles, you don't know the half of it!
That's the truth if I ever heard it!!! She's so generous it borders on crazy! (But the very sweetest kind of crazy... )

She introduced us as her "Star Wars friends"
Haha! That was for my mom. She once asked me (when I was meeting up with Brookieloo in NYC) if I was hanging out with a "real friend" or a "Star Wars friend." BOTH, I say!
the highlight of the reception was munching on Wookie Cookies!
I told you how my bass player wanted to hire me to bake them full time, right? Haha! I'll take that job!!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for coming out to hear me last night!!! It really meant the world (or, the galaxy, rather ) to me!!!!
Blast...I wish I could give you another hug right now!!

Jp77's recital was fantastic!
She seemed like such a natural up on stage...the concert had me tapping my feet all evening. It was not only fun but a wonderful showcase of some very talented musicians. I really enjoyed it!
Sadly, due to my schedule this week, I could not linger to say 'hello' to anyone outside of jp77, whom I caught (more like surprised) before she made her entrance into the reception area. I sincerely hope neither you ( EH5), JMW, or JP1 take offense; I wish I could have stayed longer to talk with you all. It was my loss. I can only hope another opportunity to meet you all presents itself in the future. Please accept my apologies.

Sounds like you had an awesome time - if JP77's samples on her myspace site are anything to go by, the concert must have been amazing.
I'm always happy to hear about bloggers meeting and helping each other out - more than you can imagine!
See you at C IV

It was so WONDERFUL to meet you! And I'm glad you had a good time!
I'm so happy to have met you too! I had a great time. The music was so diverse, I loved it! I needed a little culture.
I wish I could have been there.
You were, along with the whole Crew, in spirit.
I probably would have tried to catch a flight over there had I not had to work the night before
No kidding?! Oh, I wish that would have worked out!

Please accept my apologies.
Welllllllll, ok.
Don't worry, I understand about crazy schedules. It was nice that you showed up to support JP! Maybe you caught a glimpse of us...we were the three models of decorum toward the back, on the right, whooping it up after JP did the Cantina Song.
sorry for the shameless plugs
Plug away. The more who show up, the merrier!
It's going to be great!
Yeah it will!
I'm always happy to hear about bloggers meeting and helping each other out
Me too. Gotta spread the SW love!
I had a blast!!!!!
Same here!
I want to hear her sing! (Live
It's so different when you get to see someone live. JP has great stage presence!

I hope we can convince her to do some sorta performance at CIV...
Here, here! And may I suggest a group trip to said Lego store? jp brought an Anakin Lego figure key chain with her from the Windy City when she came to NYC in January, and I'm seriously thinking I've gotta see this place for myself . . . .
