 | Alone in the Universe |
I never know what to write in a blog. I always think it needs to be something Star Wars related so that I can share it with all you other bloggers and you can write fantastic comments that make me laugh and smile, or sometimes get angry. I like hearing from all of you, it makes me feel like I'm not alone. For you see, I am the only Star Wars Fan I know. I know some that like it but none that love it as much as I. It is very sad. Perhaps, it doesn't help that I keep my allegiance quiet, but non-Star Wars fans have preconceptions about what Star Wars fans are like and I'd prefer that they do not perceive me that way. Even if it is true that I am a geek (which obviously it is, I'm blogging on starwars.com), it is a negative thing in our society to be seen, or actually be, a geek.
This is strange considering that geeks usually become some of the most important people in our society and history (I cannot think of any examples right now, if you have any, feel free to share). Well, I guess almost anyone associated with the movie industry is a geek and movies influence our society immensely. (Just look at what George Lucas has done!)
Now, I have forgotten the point of this blog... the Star Wars community is a wonderful thing for someone like me, who feels alone in their fandom, and as much as I would like lots of comments on this blog because it makes me feel connected, some of you or a lot may not find anything I have to say interesting. I am probably boring you death already.
I just realized that I have written a blog somewhat similar to this, but this one includes a social commentary on the preconceptions of geeks in our society, which is obviously very important to all of us. Now, I begin to ramble, so I shall post this and see how many of you are interested in my somewhat incoherent musings.
