Snubbed?
I have heard a disturbing report that Natalie Portman was intentionally not invited to Celebration IV, and that Natalie felt hurt and snubbed because she was not invited. If this is so, it is an outrage, Natalie had just as much right to come to celebration as those actors that didn't play an important role like Natalie's. I would have loved to see Natalie at Celebration IV! I would have been just about as excited to see her as I was to see Carrie Fisher.
On the other hand, I have also heard a report that it is untrue that Natalie was snubbed and that she was just unavailable which I suppose does sound reasonable. However, it still does not clarify whither or not she was actually invited. Here are the possibilities that I see for this situation: she wanted to come but was not invited, she was neither available nor invited, or she was invited but unavailable.
Perhaps, we'll never know what happened. However, I do hope that I'll get to see her someday at a future Celebration.
Here is a link to a sight that declares the alleged snub untrue.

From the assorted interviews I've read with her over the years, I doubt that she be hurt and offended for not being invited. I didn't hear of any of the other star actors from the prequels being at CIV either.

My recollections from CIII was that many of the top tier celebs did not want to attend; the fact is they weren't there. They appeared in some video and 'on location' set-ups to make up for it, but on the whole they did not want to attend for whatever reason. I highly doubt Nat was not invited. Sadly, its more likely the case that she (and others) simply want to keep their distance from this franchise so as not to hurt their image as serious actors. I mean no disrespect to the actors involved but it is what it is.

Natalie Portman is a fantastic actress, and I would say that if she hadn't played Padme. I doubt she was "snubbed", because that wouldn't be too smart on the part of the organizers. It is more likely that she was busy with a new project.

There were plenty of prequel stars at CIV. Jack Lloyd for one, Ray Park, Daniel Logan, Bonnie Piesse, and a bunch of other less important actors.

How can you be a Star Wars Fan and say that? Where's the loyalty! I can understand an actor distancing themself because they don't want to be always known as the actor from Star Wars, but it's not like people don't already know that Natalie was in three movies.

It wouldn't make sense for her not to be invited, even from a very cynical point of view - having here there would have like doubled the amount of money they were made! :D

Hey, K-fan wasn't saying he didn't think they should come. He was just saying that could be what's going through the actors' heads (or more likely, through their agents' heads). It's not disloyal to admit that sometimes other people don't regard Star Wars as highly as we do!
