The connection between Qui-Gon and B'omarr Monks
I just came across something that sparked my attention: I have always been intrigued with those spidery robots in Jabba's Palace that move the so-called B'omarr Monks. These Monks shed almost all of their mortal coil to spend the rest of their lives in a glass jar. This is completely in line with their minimalistic views.

Now here comes the revelation: Isn't Qui-Gon doing exactly the same? He shed his mortal coil (albeit involuntarily at the hand of Darth Maul) to become one with the Force on another level.

"Patience. You will have time. I did not. When I became one with the Force I made a great discovery. With my training, you will be able to merge with the Force at will. Your physical self will fade away, but you will still retain your consciousness. You will become more powerful than any Sith," he says to Yoda in the novelization of Revenge of the Sith.

Further more, he says:

"You will learn to let go of everything. No attachment, no thought of self. No physical self."

Is it possible that Qui-Gon spent some time with the B'omarr Monks or read about them somewhere? He clearly says he made a discovery, but this could very well be a memory stashed somewhere that was triggered by the trauma of his untimely death.

Somebody any thoughts?

GO SQUASH!

Man, this entry just flew over my head like the millenium falcon escaping a star destroyer! I like the comparison, well thought out. I wish I knew what B'omarr Monks were:( sigh

I think Qui-Gon isn't talking about B'omarr Monks at all. I just think his new intelligence is so far above us we don't understand it. Anyway, I hate Darth Maul for killing Qui-Gon. I liked Qui-Gon.]:)

That's an interesting idea. We don't know where or how Qui Gon started figuring out the disappearing trick, and this seems like as good an inspiration as any. We saw in TPM that he was at least vaguely familiar with Jabba and Tatooine. Maybe one day he was meditating about why the Force allows wretched hives of scum and villainy like that to exist, got distracted wondering about the monks, and had a eureka moment? I'd like to know!

Not really. a life in a box is still life, but Qui gon is as dead as a doornail. there is a difference in both a) preparation (monks don't go from living breathing outsiders to brains in a jar after one stab) and b) form (b'marrs have still got a physical presence) Hell, didn't fortuna get a body cloned from his jarred brain?
