I just came across something that sparked my attention: I have always been intrigued with those spidery robots in Jabba's Palace that move the so-called B'omarr Monks. These Monks shed almost all of their mortal coil to spend the rest of their lives in a glass jar. This is completely in line with their minimalistic views.
Now here comes the revelation: Isn't Qui-Gon doing exactly the same? He shed his mortal coil (albeit involuntarily at the hand of Darth Maul) to become one with the Force on another level.
"Patience. You will have time. I did not. When I became one with the Force I made a great discovery. With my training, you will be able to merge with the Force at will. Your physical self will fade away, but you will still retain your consciousness. You will become more powerful than any Sith," he says to Yoda in the novelization of
Revenge of the Sith.
Further more, he says:
"You will learn to let go of everything. No attachment, no thought of self. No physical self."
Is it possible that Qui-Gon spent some time with the B'omarr Monks or read about them somewhere? He clearly says he made a discovery, but this could very well be a memory stashed somewhere that was triggered by the trauma of his untimely death.
Somebody any thoughts?
