Star Wars Weekends, Our Mickey Mouse Mustafar Holiday
Hello all!

Been a while, Busy-busy, yada-yada.

Or should I say, "Yaddle-Yaddle", or "Yoda-Yoda"? No matter, I digress.

Having been a parent for almost 10 standard revolutions now, I have experienced no small number of adventures with the younglings. One of the best parts about having kids for me is living vicariously through them. That is to say, I am able to infect them as an emotional parasite, thereby feeding upon the novelty and joy of a life free from worry, and fueled by wonder. And, they count as dependents on my taxes.

Oops, I digressed again, a la Britney Spears. Will I be able to recover? Will she?

Ah yes, the children. Younglings are so wonderful! Always ready to try new things! I believe that they somehow keep us young, even as they gray and then thoroughly defoliate our scalps. We the parents are the life-guides, the ones who have been there before, and who hopefully remember where the nearest bathroom is.

And so, it has been both a great pleasure, as well as a solemn duty I have undertaken, to pass on my love of Star Wars to my padawans, who have been enthusiatic and receptive learners. Thus, when my son was asked what he might like to do for his recent 7th birthday, he replied, "To go to Star Wars Weekend!".

Now, Star Wars Weekend at Disney World in June is the equivalent of Mustafar heat coupled with the humidity of Dagobah, paradoxically combined with the dehydration of Tatooine thrown in for good measure. Yet, given my own personal love of all things Star Wars, and just enough room on a credit card left to make a go, the will of the Force seemed clear. (The will of the Force, or Visa, which amounts to pretty much the same thing in our galaxy.)

And that is how we celebrated my son's birthday, Friday, June 20th. Both kids were costumed, and bias understood, I think you'll agree that they did me proud. You'll recognize Leia, from Ep I, and I hope, Luke from Ep. III, though many confused him with Anakin. This caused much consternation among our ranks, but we chose to overlook the lack of a classical OT education among the general populace. In no way did this spoil our most excellent time. Hope the links work and that you enjoy the photos- Good night!
