Jar-Jar Speaks Huttese?

In Episode I, we see Jar-Jar snag a frog, yadda yadda, get yelled at in Huttese, he answers, gets -- Hey! Wait a second! He was yelled at in Huttese! How does he know what it means? Maybe it's from his banishment? I don't know how long he had been banished before Episode I, so...Anyways. Anyone have an idea?

date Posted: Aug 14, 2007 1:44 PM I didn't think he did respond in Huttese, I thought he just repeated, as if to say, "What does that mean?" what the being yelling at him said. It would be interesting to know more about where Jar Jar went during his banishment. Maybe just to another Gungan village, because he didn't seem the type to get around much (in other words, he's no Han Solo)

Yes, but you forget that when the storekeeper said "Wanga", Jar-Jar spat it out then, as if he knew what the guy meant. Who knows, maybe it was a slip on GL's part.

It would be interesting to know more about where Jar Jar went during his banishment. Maybe just to another Gungan village, because he didn't seem the type to get around much (in other words, he's no Han Solo)

I agree. I would have loved to see more about it. Maybe they'll mention it in the live action TV series, though I doubt it.

date Posted: Feb 12, 2008 9:59 PM It was like this. Note the Seller was speaking Huttese, and I translated. Jar Jar takes food. Seller: Are you going to pay for that? Jar Jar does not know what he said. : Huh? Seller: It costs seven wupiwupi. Jar Jar: Wupiwipi? (What the heck is a wupiwupi?)
