Why Did She Run?
When the stormtroopers were looking for prisoners on the Tantive IV, Leia shot one of them. There were still three there to contend with. She shot one and ran from the other three. Why? She must have known that they wouldn't let her go, so why did she run? Why didn't she shoot them when they were just looking around? It would have simplified matters so...

The other troopers would have heard, set for stun on their way to help, and Leia wouldn't have had time to kill the reinforcements or run.

Interesting question. I never thought about it.

Perhaps she had enough of hiding in such tight quarters & her claustraphobia got the better of her.

Other than that, I can only say it was probably for dramatic reasons or something....

I think people don't always act logically when they're in dangerous adrenaline-filled situations like that. If you're driving 80mph down the highway, and a deer jumps out in front of your car, do you hit the breaks, swerve, or keep going straight and hope he gets clear? It would be a hard decision even if it wasn't happening really fast. It's hard to predict how you would react in the few seconds you have, and you might make a quick decision then regret it and try to switch, even if it wouldn't seem logical to someone who had time to think about it.

I'm guessing she was trying to get away, and get to an escape pod.

She needed to go. Y'know, go. And when ya gotta go, ya gotta go.

To use your line: Ahoy!

True, but you'd think with the troopers just meandering around...

I'm guessing she was trying to get away, and get to an escape pod.

That was my original thought, though I don't think she's be stupid enough to think that they wouldn't be trying to stop the pods from leaving the ship.

Perhaps she had enough of hiding in such tight quarters & her claustraphobia got the better of her.

But why would she turn her back on them? From what I've seen of her, she doesn't generally run from danger.

I can only say it was probably for dramatic reasons or something....

Probably!

This has always bothered me! Her chances of escape would have been much better to stand her ground and try to shoot them all.....but then was there really any chance of escape? Maybe she knew the game was up and just wanted to take one of them with her. I guess our plucky princess did the best she could. :)
