My Mediclorian count is higher then yours
Have you ever noticed that In Episode 1 Qui Gon refers to mediclorians as tiny bacteria that make up all living things.
George made it simple, they are small little bacteria that are in all living things are made of. And thats about it. So what were Georges intentions, was he trying to tie everything together or was this a desprate attempt to explain the force?
I think that what George was really trying do was create a new spin on the story. Think about, it he has a brand new movie and he wants to try to explain the force as easily as possible.

But his explination sucked. It really did which is why the explination has only been brought up in Episode 1 and biefly in episode 3. Personally I think that the explanation is stupid because bacteria are liveing organisms, that can potentially be transfered to other beings.
Those are my thoughts
what are yours?

*technically Palpatine refrences medichlorians in epsisode 3 too*
but only once.
