Insights on the creation of Yoda & other Star Wars creatures
In 1978, 5 people, (lead by Creature Effects Designer Stuart Freeborn), built Yoda. Three of them, Stuart, his son Graham and myself, were also involved in building the wampa, tauntauns, mynock, ugnaughts and Mos Eisly cantina creatures. Everything written about these events has been compiled by people who were not present at the time, These were mainly writers working from interviews and other info drafted by the publicity department, (and they were rarely around the creature workshop either). For the first time ever, you can access first hand information about the TRUE history behind the creation of these creatures via this blog As an experiment, and for a limited time, I will let fans ask me questions via email. if it's not too overwhelming, I will answer those questions here. Limit your questions to episodes IV & V.

Conceiving Yoda... There are so many rumors about the inspiration for Yoda that they are hard to count. Since I was in the workshop the whole time that Stu Freeborn was modeling Yoda, I have been asked repeatedly set the record a little straighter.

Harrison Ford before the world knew Han Solo Talking on http://twitter.com/thatyodaguy today brought to mind recollections of Harrison Ford while we were making ANH. Only Alec Guinness (Obi Wan) and Peter Cushing (Grand Moff Tarkin) were known stars when we prepared that movie and there was no clue

The full sized Wampa suit from ESB A few years back I was interviewed for the Star Wars Insider mag about building the Wampa. The original design was done by Ralph McQuarrie but took no account of the physical limitations that wouls be needed in order to make this creature work.
