A Rebel's Ramblings

Yo...Hammerhead Time!
Some people say, "I love a parade", but I love an Ithorian. I always have. I remember playing with my "Star Wars" toys as a kid and thinking, Hammerhead can't be a bad guy, he just doesn't look like it. I always thought he looked old and wise and that the Imperial-issue blaster didn't seem right in his hand.

As the years went on, lo and behold, it was revealed that indeed, an Ithorian, or Hammerhead, is just another name for "nice person". I was disappointed that the Prequels didn't show the world of Ithor, or one of the great Herd Ships. Also, just like a Wookiee, there should have been an Ithorian Jedi. In the original "Star Wars" lore both creatures are supposed to be close to the Force.

Unlike Wookiees, Ithorians seem kind of fragile to me. Maybe that goes back to when I was about 10- or 11-years-old and my sister made the comment that my Hammerhead action figure looked liked he'd "been in a car accident". I hadn't destroyed it beyond recognizition (I was always careful with my toys), but he just naturally appeared that way to her.

Long-time readers of mine will know that I have gone on about Ithorians before, but I can't help it. They are one of the unsung heroes of the galaxy far, far away.

You are right, the Ithorians do look fragile, and that is why, when I first saw Corobb, I thought that using him as a Jedi was kind of a joke. Then General Grievous came along and Corobb got to blow Grievous away. Hm. My thoughts on Corobb changed immediately, a joke he was not.:)

Hammerheads will always make me think of Bruce the Shark's friend in Finding Nemo. Always. Love that movie! :D

Ithorians are awesome. I can't remember the book, but the one in Chalmun's cantina in A New Hope shows up in one of the novels doesn't he? He tells Wormie that he was there that fateful day when he and Obi-Wan met Han Solo. Or something like that.

I must admit, I wasn't happy at all when the Vong devastated Ithor.

More Ithorian (and Wookiee) Jedi are needed, that's what I say. The tally so far? One Ithorian, and 2 Wookiees. So much for being close to the Force.

And don't forget - we are always in need of Gamorrean Jedi too.

Oh I almost forgot - those two bumbling blockhead 'ammerhead bounty hunters in KOTOR Vol 2 were absolutely hilarious. They were a riot - I want to see those two crop up in future stories.

~quickly grabs my KOTOR Vol 2 to make sure they didn't get killed~
