Darth Vader: When I left you I was but a kitten, now I am the cat!

As someone who fights for the visibility of cats in motion pictures, I think there should have been cats in "Star Wars", here are some appropriate places:

ANH...

Luke watches the twin suns set, why wasn't there a cat rubbing around his legs?

The Mos Eisley cantina...ever been in one of those cool record stores? The catina reminds me of that, and they always have a cat hanging around. I think it would have been appropriate if the Ithorian had been petting a cat.

Gov. Tarkin, like Dr. Evil, needed a cat to pat while giving those ghastly orders.

ESB...

Do you think Darth Vader just meditates in that meditation chamber of his? NO! Why didn't we see him dangling some yarn in front of his pet cat?

When Luke got his synthetic hand...why didn't he hold it out for his cat to snif and then rub his face in?

ROTJ...

Why weren't the Ewoks CATS??!!?? And no, I don't mean wild cats or computer enhanced cats, I'm talking about regular domesticated house cats?? First, I DARE an Imperial Storm Trooper to fire on a cute kitty cat and all that shedding fur would probably have caused an electronic malfunction that would have decativated the shield generator before the Rebels even landed!

OR...just make half the cast cats!...

Chewbacca could have been a cat

Darth Vader could have said...

DV: Obi Wan never told you what happened to your cat...

LS: He told me enough, he told me you killed him!!

DV: No, I AM your cat!

Change the name R2-D2 to R2-Cat2 and you have a droid cat

date Posted: Mar 02, 2006 10:31 AM You all remember Broadway's "Cats" don't you? It ran for years, everyone saw it (probably more than once), but nobody really liked it. date Posted: Mar 02, 2006 11:15 AM I have seen ducks in the databank and was surprised, but I guess they were on Naboo. Certainly Padme had a cat, that's how Anakin must have gotten the scratch on his eye. It's always nice when you meet a random cat.

By the way, I did see some ducks in TPM.

Just remembered this, i am re-reading Romeo and Juliet and the following question came to mind. If we gave the prince of cats (Tybalt) a lightsaber, could he defeat the Endor stormtroopes?

Who am i kidding. even a single kitten could defeat the Endor batallion.

Great blog! I think there should have been a few cats in the Jedi Temple. Younglings giggling excitedly as they chase a cat around. A thoughtful Padawan researching in the Archives with a cat happily rubbing up against their legs purring contentedly. (while looking for the oppertunity to jump at the Padawan's dangling braid) And of course a cat practicly begging for Master Windu's attention in the Council chamber by jumping at the Jedi Masters robes.

Yes, cats definitly belong in the Jedi Temple as well

date Posted: Mar 03, 2006 3:46 AM there are no animals from earth(other than humans) in the SW movies, so why would you suddenly make half the cast cats. As for ducks being in the databank, thats just becouse in TPM, Captain Panaka said they'd be sitting ducks at some point.
