8 Things I Hate about IG-88
#1-All the EU stuff about him is cool, but in "Empire" he just stands there like a moisture vaporator.

#2-His name sounds similar to IGA, a grocery store chain here in the Midwest.

#3-He out-cools my favorite bounty hunters from "Empire"

#4-He talks in the comic books, but I'm inclined to believe he would speak in a robot language, more like R2-D2 (only more sinister)

#5-In the comics and cartoons (i.e., Droids) he is partnered with another bounty hunter, but according to TALES OF THE BOUNTY HUNTERS he wouldn't do that

#6-If his metallic body is loaded with weapons why does he carry blasters?

#7-His arms fell off easily (well, I'm referring to the action figure)

#8-His large-size action figure was difficult to find

BONUS COMPLAINT: There's no photo of IG-88 on file under "Episode V"

Indeed, IG-88 would have to be my least favorite bounty hunter for many of the same reasons you stated above.

Awesome license plate, Nobo.

I thought the name complaint, reason 2, was particularly funny.

I remember as a kid trying to figure out how he would be an effective bounty hunter. The EU really helped that.

Though he was such an ominous imposing figure standing in Empire. He always seemed too awkward a design to really be all that functional especially in the profession he was supposed to be in. Maybe if they had draped a cloak over him like his brother robot models used by Grievous.

I agree about the IGA similarity. in the back of my head whenever I saw those stores my mind went directly to IG-88.

Ha! I had to check this blog out. You see last week I asked my soon to be 7 year old what he wanted on his birthday cake. Expecting something out of Star Wars, I was, but I wasn't expecting this... I want an icing sculpture (meaning fondant) of IG-88 on my cake. My response was "Huh? Are you suuure?" So I made him his 'sculpture', but I searched long and hard to find a good pic of IG-88 and I came to the same conclusion as you
There's no photo of IG-88 on file under "Episode V"

btw Until recently I didn't even know the silly looking robot bounty-hunter thingy had a name!

Great blog Fan!:D

Thanks, ketal13! I would LOVE to see a photo of the cake if you have one. I'm sure that was one happy 7-year-old who got a sculpted IG-88 on his cake.

You forgot reason #9- He was an annoying boss in the Shadows of the Empire video game.

Has anybody other than me even played that game...?

I haven't played it, but if it came after 1983 I haven't played it. When it comes to computer games I'm an asteroids, Pac Man, Ms Pac Man, and Frogger kind of guy.

The only problem I have with Iggy is that building his costume to be wearable would be a big pain in the butt. Cosplaying as Iggy would be a bit difficult as his design doesn't grant much freedom.

I'm also far too short to be a menacing assassin droid.

And probably not think enough. IG-88 doesn't lend himself to turning into a costume, that's for certain.

Fans of his may have taken offense to my #1 reason, but in a way, I could see IG-88 standing real still on Tatooine and his victim thinking, "Oh, it's just a vaporator" and all of the sudden--zap!--IG has vaporized him!

I only have four problems with IG-88:

IG-88A
IG-88B
IG-88C
IG-88D

It gets hard to keep track of them after a while.

The whole Death Star thing was a bit silly, too.

[..] I could see IG-88 standing real still on Tatooine and his victim thinking, "Oh, it's just a vaporator" and all of the sudden--zap!--IG has vaporized him!

Lol! It'd be the ultimate disguise...

And probably not thin enough. IG-88 doesn't lend himself to turning into a costume, that's for certain.

Yeah, 'spite being boney and lanky, I'm still not thin enough for IG-88. Though... I wonder how well a huge puppet of Iggy would work...
