Jerry Lewis in Person
As most of you who frequently read my blogs know, I enjoy Jerry Lewis films, telethons, and...Jerry Lewis as a person in general. I don't know if you've read much by him, but nearly everything he says, in my estimation, is quotable.

I've known about Jerry all my life (that is, from childhood on), but it was in 2000 when I would say I really became a fan. I was working a very difficult job and began noticing that many of his solo films (the ones without Dean) are about a hard working guy usually getting it laid on thick by his employer. At the time I could really relate.

In 2003, when he began having some noticeable health problems I could relate to that, too. I was encouraged that his serious condition didn't keep him from doing the telethon and gained a lot of inspiration from that kind of courage.

Well, here we are in 2008. Jerry Lewis is scheduled to perform live at the Fantasy Casino in Indio, California. He's going to sing, tell stories and jokes, and there is a montage of his motion picture routines that will be played. The show last for 90 minutes and it's one night only: May 31. Bottom line: I REALLY really REALLY want to go.

I have health problems, as again, frequent readers will be aware. However, I really don't think they will be much of an issue. I'm on the plane, I'm taxied to the hotel, the hotel is where Jerry performs, I go to bed, I get up, I go back to the airport, I get on the plane. I only plan on staying for the one night. And NO, there will be NO gambling (or smoking or drinking). But with a dinner buffet, I'm GONNA EAT.

Anyway, I realize it's a long way to go, I live in Ohio, and since Jerry is feeling better he might show up in Columbus in six months, but I suppose then I'll be able to say, "Hey, I've seen him twice!"

Go for it. If you don't go now and he doesn't come close to OHIO, then you'll regret it, maybe.

Jerry Lewis is great. I have my dad to thank for getting me to like him. We got to see him at a show once in Las Vegas, too. It was great.

Great for you that you're going! Jerry Lewis is fantastic.

While I am not a Jerry Lewis fan - I can certainly understand your excitement about seeing him. I think you definitely should go - traveling will just add to the experience.

Even if you do not want to gamble you should at least play a slot or two while you are there. ;)

If you can manage it, you should go. Being in the presence of one's heroes, be it on screen, in person, or within a book, has to be beneficial on a variety of levels. Enjoy!

I really appreciate the feedback and I really want to do it, but I think I will have to pass due to physical problems. I don't know. I'll keep praying and considering for now. I really want to buy the tickets tomorrow and the plane tickets if it's going to happen.
