Picks, Pans, and Previews
So far this Spring...

EXPELLED-No Intelligence Allowed
This is a solid documentary, but I'm afraid it's been reviewed mostly by people who haven't seen it. Check it out. It's a tearjerker. You read that right.

SPEED RACER
It's too much for kids and adults will ignore it. I was afraid I was going to have seizure and when Speed's little brother gave the middle finger, I walked out. The plot could be interesting, but it was too confusing; flashing from past to present to daydream. The cast worked, the script didn't.

STAR WARS: CLONE WARS
Saw the preview at "Speed Racer". The Jedi track down Jabba's kidnapped son? Uh-oh, mesa gettin nervous. I'll still reserve my opinion until after I see the movie.

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL
{Whew!} So far I like what I've seen. I am NOT a fan of the first three movies, maybe time #4 will be the charm for me. If not, I'm sure it won't be the worst experience I've had at the movies.

What I've been watching on DVD and VHS:

I recently watched BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN for the first time in my life. I'm talking about the 1935 classic. I would say that for many people (myself included) it can still send a shiver down your spine. In 1935 it was fantasy, but with cloning, etc. the post-modern viewer can't help but be more than a little unnerved by the tale.

Still enjoying:

ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS

THE DISORDERLY ORDERLY

THE ERRAND BOY

ROCK-A-BYE BABY

EXPELLED-No Intelligence Allowed

It's sad how poorly it's been reviewed. Of course, I haven't seen it, but I really would like to.

SPEED RACER

It's a darn shame that the movie didn't do well. My dad was a huge fan of the original series in the 60's and 70's. I had the privilege of watching them once. The animation is somewhat humorous, but they were fun to watch. I haven't seen the movie yet, but we might wait for the movie. I dunno.

STAR WARS: CLONE WARS

Tracking down Jabba's son. Ouch! I don't see how that's gonna work well, but I'm still very optimistic.

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL

A must see if you ask me. I love the 1st and 3rd ones. The second one stunk. I'm really looking forward to seeing Indy in action again. I'm not sure about the decision of placing Shia LaBeouf in the movie. I mean, he was great in Transformers, but I'm not sure if he's Indy material. Oh well, I can't judge yet. I'm for sure going to see it.

Well, I'm of the opinion that he turns out to be Marion and Indiana's son, and while I have some issues with that, I think it'll be interesting.

I think it'll have better resemblence later like to ROTJ when Jabba is annoyed to see that Luke's a Jedi becasue supposdly there's a conflict between them and this must be when it arises. Now Indy looks freaking awesome lol.

I'm glad to see someone else shares my nerves for the upcoming Star Wars: Clone Wars. And to be clear, I NEVER get nervous about Star Wars projects.

Expelled does look interesting--unfortunately, the nearest showing for me is four hours away. But I guess there's always the DVD release.

There is a reason its a tearjerker. It made me want to go up to the projector and burn it. Then track down every copy and burn that one too. Then strangle him with the last.

I mean, he was great in Transformers,

You're kidding, right? Shia Lawhatever annoys the hell out of me! He might just ruin this next Indy installment.

Transformers was another Michael Bay Fail. I almost hit my best friend when he made me see it with him.

EXPELLED-No Intelligence Allowed

Saw a poster for it, but didn't take much notice of it.

SPEED RACER

FAIL.

STAR WARS: CLONE WARS

I'm very excited about this, but a little wary of the plot. Jabba's son? C'mon! While your at it, make a documentary about the Bush girls. NO ONE CARES!

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL

The hairs on the back of my neck stood up and I got goosebumps at the sound of that theme music in the trailer! This movie it a must must must see for me! Though like I said earlier, Shia LaDouche might not make it as enjoyable as I would hope.

I'm gonna make it a point to see Indy, because I haven't seen much of anything lately. Yeesh, I feel so out of touch! Interesting review of Speed Racer... makes me want to see it even less now.

when Speed's little brother gave the middle finger, I walked out.

Im no prude but it always annoys and disappoints me when Hollywood feels some NEED to throw "adult humor" into an otherwise "family friendly" film.

Look, make up your minds, its for kids or its for adults, but the sad part truly is Im sure the moment when the kid gave the finger wasnt even FUNNY.

I had no interest is seeing Speed Racer anyway...

and slightly OFF topic: glad to read Im not the ONLY person who totally HATED Transformers LOL....
