Why doesn't this site have Jerry Lewis photos in the "Add Picture" section?
Anyway, my tickets for the July 26 show arrived today. I've been telling everyone: my doctors, nurses, friends, family, comic book dealers, etc. about {hopefully, LORD willing} going to see Jerry Lewis in a little less than two months.
For those of you outside of the Midwest, Jerry will also be in Tuscon, AZ on Dec. 11, 2008 (and for those who can swing it, in Las Vegas for the Telethon on Labor Day, but that's by invitation only, I've been told).
The more I hear about the California concert (that he performed on May 31, 2008) the more I am excited for the Michigan one.
Jerry sang several songs (some straight and some in his "Norman-voice"). He obviously told jokes, did the typewriter bit, showed film clips, had a Q & A, and did some other things. The length of the California show was 95 minutes. Not bad for someone who is 82-years-young.
There's been a lot of whooping and hollering over if I will actually get to meet Jerry or not. For the record, I will be thrilled to see a live show. I have been to other concerts where I did meet the performer afterward, but those folks (as much as I admire them and think they have an amazing gift) are not mega-stars. Jerry has had a stalker and had death threats. His home has been broken into. I understand if he does not chose to meet with anyone afterwards. Add to that, he, like anybody else after such a show, will be tired. Having said that, if I do get to meet him I will not be unhappy about it. If I got a picture with him I would like it if he would give me "bunny ears".
The friend I am going with, whose real name is Larry King, is arranging the motel rooms. Once that is settled the whole thing will be in motion and it will just be a matter of time.
Meanwhile, I have a father's day meal with my Dad, a family reunion, a Wednesday night Bible study I will lead on June 25, and I would like to shed about 30 pounds before my High School Reunion (August 1-3). So there's still life to be lived.
I will probably also watch several Jerry Lewis films before July 26.
