Over the next couple of weeks or months I hope to post more reviews. I have noticed that my review blogs seem to get a lot of attention (and I enjoy that). Of course, with me, there's always a twist, so, with the exception of one item, most of the literature I review will NOT be new material. This means that if the review inspires you to purchase the object for yourself, you may have to scourer www.amazon.com or your local comic book shop(s).
As a rule, I don't enjoy reviewing things I don't like, but I will be as honest about the item as possible. I realize that everyone's tastes are different so I will attempt to describe the work as best as possible so that even if I like it you'll know from the description if you would hate it. I certainly don't want any horror stories about "you gave a favorable review and I bought it and now I hope you drop dead!" Fortunately for me, most of the items are not too expensive, so hopefully you wouldn't seek my life in return for a bad purchase.
Here is what I hope to review (circumstances, of course, may get in my way):
The first four are Classic Star Wars graphic novels released by Dark Horse in the mid- to late-1990's. These books reprint the "Star Wars" newspaper serials. I was around for the late 70's and early 80's when these were published, but they must not have been carried by our local papers. I have known about them for awhile, but I recently became curious enough to read them. These books by title are:
In Deadly Pursuit
The Rebel Storm
Escape to Hoth
and
The Early Adventures
The next item will be ALIENS AND MONSTERS FROM GEORGE LUCAS. I purchased this in 1994 and purchased another copy from amazon.com (I was delighted to find they still had a first print edition). I was stupid of me to sell my original copy of this wonderful book. As you can tell by that comment, it will be a favorable review. I don't like to be materialistic, but I can't wait to have this back in my possession.
I will also review THREATS OF THE GALAXY. This will be an interesting review from the standpoint that I do not play roleplay games and this is a roleplay book. I saw it in the comic shop today and the title really caught me. I think most of us think of terrorism when we see or hear the word "threats" nowadays and while a book entitled "Threats to Our World" would hit closer to home, sometimes it feels as if the whole galaxy is in peril. I thumbed through the book and the illustrations are mostly EU, but there are some nice photos and graphics based on the movies (a nice picture of Bossk, for example). I am interested in reading this book from the standpoint of delving more into the threats of the "Star Wars" universe.
I may also do one soundtrack review, but don't hold your breath.
