GALACTIC IDOL

What if "American Idol" took place in the stars? Which "Star Wars" characters would be the judges? Who would be the contestants? Who would be the "Galactic Idol"?

Well, let's start with the judges...who were the judgmental people in "Star Wars"? I think Mon Mothma would make a great one. She could say: "Many Bothans died while listening to you sing that."

Another good judge would be See Threepio. He could say: "I am fluent in over 6 million forms of communications, but I can't think of ANYTHING to express how awful that song sounded when you sang it!"

The third judge would have to Salicious Crumb, who could just laugh at the poor contestants.

As for the contestants, well, Princess Leia DID have a musical number on "The...Holiday Special" and Chewbacca and R2-D2 had a dance number on "The Muppet Show". I goes it would be obvious to have the Bith band and Max Rebo's folks (OK, maybe they're professionals, but it's a big galaxy, maybe they wouldn't get caught).

Palpatine would be the kind of contestant who would attempt to manipulate the judges, but ultimately not win the contest.

Jar Jar Binks would be singing "She Bangs".

Lando Calrissian would perform a Motown retro.

Aunt Beru would come on in "Amazing Grace" or "America the Beautiful" and immediately get a "no" from the judges.

Jabba the Hutt would surprise us with a Sinatra number.

Luke Skywalker would get a "no" for his rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water"

and Han Solo would have "the look", "But keep your job as a smuggler"
