I've Just Made a Deal That Will Keep the Empire Out of Here Forever...Now, What about the Vampires?
It is a well known fact that Bespin (i.e., Cloud City) was crawling with vampires. That was the real problem. No wonder Lando Calrissian was so willing to let the Dark Lord have his way; the only thing worse than Vader is Dracula!

Cloud City seemed to be cursed with Biblical-sized plagues. In his brief period as Administrator, Lando had to deal with Mad Cow, ecoli from spinach, and worst of all...vampires!

"I've had supply problems of every kind, I've had labor difficults." What an understatement. You'd have "labor difficulties" too if your work force was becoming part of the Undead!

See Threepio discovered the true problem on Bespin and was blasted to bits. Chewbacca was hip to what was going on (take a closer look at the original version, that's garlic around his neck!). Only Luke and Leia remained unaware.

Lando's scheme was that the Empire would take over and the bats--that's as much as he told Vader--would be the Empire's problem.

Looking back on it, this was an error on Calrissian's part. First off, some vampires were enlisted into the Empire (hence the Ewok zombies in "Revenge of the Jedi", well, they were cut, along with the initial title). It was indeed a "dark time" for the Rebellion.

So next time, when you watch "Empire", cut Calrissian some slack. You'd betray friends for a shot of loosing your vampire problems!

So that's what really happened? Well, then I think I could give Lando a little "slack" the next time I see that part ;)
