This concludes our test of the Rive Caedo "Comment Jumper" Evaluation System (Patent Pending).

If this were an actual blog entry it would have included more misspellings and would have been followed by 2-10 sarcastic comments from various experienced blog goers.... And 40-48 people arguing that Yoda is a small target or that Force Choke would "totally pwn" Yoda.

If you felt an urge to respond to the above entry with a serious thought out response (which would have been longer than the actual entry) please inform your local Pitiful Little Band member immediately for help and assistance in locating more in-depth entries.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled entry. Thank you.

Blog Entry Title: I'm not afraid!... Well... Maybe a little.
Blog Entry Introduction Teaser that is totally useless since you're already in the entry:
I'm endangering the TV Show. I shouldn't have come.

"It's your imagination, kid. Come on. Let's keep a little optimism here."

Sorry Han. I've tried to remain pretty much optimistic about the TV show heading down the pipeline in 1-4 years. Mostly voicing things I'd like to see happen in the TV show. But for a slight change of pace I present...

Completely Useless and Rambling Thoughts of Star Wars TV Show Possibilities of Eeeevil
Part 1: Bridging the Gap

I will of course just get this one out of the way so that every possible comment doesn't mention it...
"The Jammin' Adventures of Jar Jar Binks Jr."

Follow the adventures of young Jar Jar Binks Jr. (Jaja) as he bumbles his way through the Imperial Occupation of Naboo causing no end of annoyance for Imperial Commander Sneerdo due to Jaja's hijinks! EVERYONE loved his dad so I bet you can't wait for the tomfoolery of Jaja!

There. It's done. Don't bother :D

On a more serious note now...
My biggest fear is that the TV Show won't be able to let go of the Prequel era. Episode III ended (Presumably in chronological order like other Star Wars events) with a Star Destroyer repainted grey and V-Wings with the distinctive TIE engine noise along with Imperial Era uniforms in play... All within an absolute maximum of 1 year after Vader is placed in his armor (due to the still infant age of Luke in the final scene). We should be at that level or beyond it. We should either have full-blown TIE fighters back in play or some V-Wing TIE hybrids to create a further bridge.

There's not much room left to bridge between Clone and Stormtrooper and I don't think there's an official "Switch over" time period yet. Personally I think it'd be within 3-5 years. A related issue is the bridge between Imperial and Venator Class Star Destroyer. According to our own databank the design of the Imperial Class begins almost immediately after the Empire is forged. So assuming we're 4+ years after Episode III we should have a nice mix of both types.

The last issue I'd like to touch on that topic is the fact that assuming the show does start to move into Original Trilogy designs should X-Wings and such be portrayed as top of the lines fighters with performance outmatching fighters in the Prequels... Or should everything be conveyed closer to the movements in the Special Edition footage or even the Battle of Endor? Personally I feel that's one line that's been crossed and can't be gone back on. It'll need to be spectacular 3D effects and such but with less focus on an individual fighter (or 2 in the case of Episode III) and more focus on minor/non-relevant pilots and even enemy pilots in the style of Episode IV and VI.

Episode III certainly started the bridge, but now they have 73 hours (I'm not including commercial time) to finish it.

Dang, Rive... get off on you! You are awesome. There was so much info here that I've been starving for, I'm going to have to re-read it to have it totally soak in.

I'll be back! :D

So when do you go on tour? I bet I could get you guys some great venues, with a small cut of the credits...

And you'll be glad to know I had no desire whatsoever to vote, as I skim only the authors of the blogs as opposed to the titles.

I think we can count on the boys at Lucasfilm and ILM to do their jobs, but can we count on the scriptwriters to do theirs?

I'll admit when I saw this blog title and your name next to it I was absolutely shocked. The first thing I thought then was that you must have some huge explanation for this because you HATE "Comment Jumpers" as you call them. Well done!

Likewise.

Aside from the ships and armour being made transitional like you say, I think that some other things to be taken into consideration need to be some of the locations aswell (for example if Naboo were used again then it wouldn't be as sunny and paradisical but the atmosphere would have to be more heavy and oppressive representing the rule of the Empire- likewise with Coruscant; no more nights out at the opera or happy come 50s diner, but dark dingy alleys). Also the costumes (kinda like the armour)- more drab and simplistic, but even the style of dialogue would have to be changed to differ from that of the prequels. While the prequels tend to deal with Senators, Jedi etc... and the TV series would likely have more down to earth characters, the formality of the prequels would have to be toned down to get that fun, free spirited style of the OT.

I'd never thought of that. Is that what they meant when they said 100 hours? 100 hours of actual air time with only 70 odd (depending on Station I guess) of content?
Geez, I'd never imagined Star Wars with breaks... Probably won't matter to me- I expect it'll air on satellite or cable and that first I see of it is the DVD box set.....

"comment jumpers"....nice.

I told you before, the show still scares me quite frankly. Do I want the show? Sure. Could I live without it? YES! The saga is complete, but there are alot of wholes to fill, but the main story has been told. Do I wish the prequels had gotten into what the show is going to go into? Yes again. I'm not an Episode I hater, but when you look at all six movies, its the one that doesn't fit at all. That is another issue.

I think the Battlefront II campaign sort of dealt with it, but it was basically "We all got shiny new armor!" and it was right after the fall of the Republic. I hope the TV show provides a better transition between the two.

You forgot to ask the NEW question that will baffle the minds of all bloggers and spawn hundreds of misspelled two liners! Just why the heck is Mace Windu's starfighter purple?

Palpatine and his Regional Governors wouldn't be to inclined to waste time and credits on civil improvement programs I would think... So even if there was no deliberate smashing of public property... It would happen naturally I think.

Well, I guess it would stop any more potentially purple lightsabers. ;)

I don't think think I quite got that point across right: obviously the weather wouldn't change, but I meant that the director would be selective in the choosing the times and settings e.g. at night in some run down ware house etc... just to get the right atmosphere that'd fit in with that general mood of te series "more gritty" as it were.

Good blog Rive!

What I'm looking for is multiple era episodes...like a couple in the epi 3-4 era...then some pre-epi1 shows....just mix it up! Do some 5 or 6 week story arcs.

I hope they show Y-Wings as the dominant fighter. I was kind of hoping for them to appear in EP III, they make more progressive design sense then those X-Wing wanabe ARCs (at least they could have made them Z-95s). I wonder what Y-Wings look like new?

Ha ha! I know what got halagad here - the words "The Ultimate Showdown" in the title ;)

But really, I want to see how the X-Wing design evolves too. I didnt like the front end of the PT X-Wings, with that dipped nose design. Wonder if the Alliance had to cut back on materials and simplified the design. :p
