A Directed Thank You to George Lucas
Musical accompaniment (PLB theme nominee)
_____________________________________
If I ever ran into the flanneled one - despite my liking to think otherwise - I'd likely stutter out some incoherant babblings and then pass out. I'd like to think I'd either thank him for the grand ol' Galaxy Far Far Away or if I was in a bad mood I'd attempt to logically convince him that Han should shoot first again... But nah. I'd probably pass out.

This is why George Lucas never visits StarWars.com :D

I'm not good at wide sweeping thank you's anyway. I'll target something very direct in this case.

Thanks for not letting FOX have the rights to the characters, storyline, plot, licensing, etc. etc. etc.

Because if that happened you can be almost sure that The Pink Five Trilogy, Revelations, IMPS - The Relentless, and countless others would be met with "cease and desist your activities" legal notices. Or in the very least they wouldn't have official sanction.

Are most of them not worth watching at all? Absolutely. They're amaturish, badly cut, and overly geeky.... Every once in a while you get a gem though. That's beside the point though. The point is that they're out there and they even have official backing from the big GL himself. I think it says a lot that if you type in "Fan Film" or "Fanfilm" on google... theforce.net and atomfilms top the list.

It can sort of be summed up with this nice CGI fan film released just a few months back.

The Empire vs. Battlestar Galactica

On one side you have the mighty Star Wars, which certainly has the legal pull and funding to shut down fan films if it wanted... But doesn't. On the other side you have the 1978 Battlestar Galactica which is, for all intents and purposes, dead. Fan films can be made there because the studio doesn't really care what happens to the old Battlestar Galactica... They might get a bit more uppity about someone making a major fan film based on the 2003+ version of BSG. Fan films can be made about Star Wars because they always and consistantly look the other way and in the case of the fan film awards: They suport it.

So in all. Just a simple thank you for Lucas Co. not using their awesome power to shut people down from playing in their galaxy far far away... Actually, they encourage it.

Thank you

*Pops in his Revelations DVD with TROOPS as an added feature*
Mmm... TIE Fighter CGI goodness and Jawas getting shot.

I'd likely stutter out some incoherant babblings and then pass out.

Here here!:D

BUT if that didn't happen, I think I would just say...

George, I'm really honored to meet you. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

That would be it, no more, no less.

Cheers Rive!

As for meeting GL - like you said yourself - I would probably wake up to paramedics tending to me after passing out!

George, I'm really honored to meet you. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

As an example of how I'd fail to say something like this... I would end up saying...

'George... Er... Mr. Lucas? Can I call you George? I'm really honored to meet you no matter what name you use - George or Mr. Lucas... or George Lucas... or Mr. George Lucas... or"

At which point his limo would drive off. :)

If I met George it would be like:

"dude, plaid? c'mon."

Not really, I'd just stare and think to myself
"You thought of SW. Wow. You thought of SW. You thought up friggin SW. This is THE man that thought up SW. This is....."

And so on.

... and Michael Jackson. Thanks for not giving any rights to MJ. But PLEEEAAAASE get Pixar back from Disney by any means neccessary, before I go and do something drastic.

Yeah, Id pass out too.

Do you know how long it takes to download a 53 second mp3 over dialup? Way too long. But I did it anyway. :)

There was much fuzz about Revelations when it was about to come out. I saw it back then and didn't like it that much to be honest. One of my favorites still is Pink Five! (the original)

Pretty good effects in Revelation, and overall film quality. The acting has its ups, but a lot more downs :p Gotta give it credit for the length and effort.

"That should up my bounty a bit"

Revelations certainly isn't epic, but the CGI is nice and it gets major points from me for being a rather complete production and not just...

STAR WARS: (Insert dramatic sounding title)!
Episode (Insert random number)

blah blah blah last of the Jedi blah blah
blah blah Sith blah blah blah galaxy is doomed blah.

"You!"
"You!"
(Insert 12 minute lightsaber fight)
"The galaxy is safe again!"

........ At least with Ryan vs. Dorkman you know what you're getting into.

I was pretty impressed with Broken Allegiance. Better acting than one usually sees in a fanfilm, a good CGI space battle, and an actual plot (even though it does eventually lead to the inevitable forest duel).

Also, if you've watched a good number of fanfilms, you'll appreciate The Formula. It's a fanfilm...about making a fanfilm.

I reflect back on that Star Wars mirror with one thing to say
Thank you George Lucas
For making my day

And my response to meeting the Grand Poobar himself would be ......dah, dah, dah ,dah, dah, dah, dah...Mr. Lucas...dah, dah, dah, dah...

Well, you get the point!! :D
