Was she half-light and half-dark?
Was she Mace Windu's half-sister?
Was George Lucas some kind of sexist and thought the girl had to have a purple lightsaber?
Or is Rive just exploiting a catchy blog title to get some extra hits?
The correct answer to all of the above is: No... Except for the exploitation bit.
So anyway our current (and amazingly more than two line!) most popular entry is "Vader, as he was supposed to be!" referring to Vader perhaps having more value in Episode III if he had been more "Sithy".
That, combined with Darth Spork's latest entry talking about fan-fiction (or what not to do with it anyway  ), got me thinking. Why don't I start up a little fan-fiction project?
The other half of my brain quickly piped up "Because you're too lazy to finish it!". I quickly subdued that half of my brain with some deathsticks and came up with this image.
Star Wars: Volume III: The Dark Times
Wow... Those eyes look really bad. I'm fairly happy with the rest of it though, considering it's a first attempt.
The realist section of my brain (currently waking up from its nap) tells me that this is as far as I'll get. I might as well not post this entry at all and just get moving along and back to reading great blog entries like "Why is Mac Windo's sabr purple?". The stupid, idealist, sleep-deprived section of my brain tells me that this will be a grand and epic project sure to propel me to becoming President of the World.
Global domination aside, the project's concept is simple. It's basically a redone version of the Prequels as told from your old buddy Rive's (where's that money you owe me btw?) point of view. It would be distributed in a comic book format (thus, Volume III, rather than Episode III) and it would be in the style of the Clone Wars cartoon series. Mostly because I dare not even think about trying something more ambitious than that. It would, of course, be completely non-profit. Not only because selling it would bring hell and damnation (or at least Lucas Co.'s legal team) down on me, but also because no one in their right mind would buy such a thing. 
I can't go into major detail of course, because that would constitute on-site fan-fiction.
The major difference is that Padme is a Jedi, as the teaser image implies. Along with the cosmetic (and perhaps storyline driven...) change of AniVader being in the suit (sans the helmet and life-support control panel) when he turns to the Dark Side.
The other major change already set in my head is that Volume I (Episode I equivalent) would start a few years further down the line than Episode I did. Qui-Gon Jinn would be a background character, likely already dead. No midiclorians, no Jar Jar (at least not as a major character), and perhaps not even any implicit refference to the "Chosen One". The jury is currently out on Maul showing up or not.

Do I think I can do a better job than George and Lucas Co.?
Not at all.
Do I think I can write better romantic dialog than the Prequels had?
Well... I tie by default.

Will I ever finish a Volume?
I doubt it.
Will I even finish page 1?
Who knows?
Only time - and my mini-floundian levels - will tell.

Sounds pretty interesting, I must say. Maybe the second part should be entirely devoted to the discussion of why aforementioned Jedi Master's lightsabre is the colour that it is. I think that's worthy of a volume or two.

I'm wondering (I hope I can articulate my question in a way that makes sense), since your concept of the prequels will be very different, will this project proceed in a way that links up with the OT eventually, or will it go in a completely different direction?

I've redone Padme's eyes and slightly modified the lips. New version has replaced the old link.

My next entry, to draw hits again, will surely be called "What color saber would Padme have?"... I honestly haven't decided for sure yet. It's a bit hard to tell due to the low-detail style of Clone Wars, but Padme is using the Episode IV Luke lightsaber hilt.
Daniel: So this is like a new version of the prequels? Will you be releasing it on the Star Wars blogs?

Yeah I know. That whole one scene in the original trilogy mentioning Luke's mother is going to be really difficult to link up with. I'll do my best though.

Great question! Yes, it'll link up in different ways though. It'll still all end up on Mustafar at the end and we'll still visit Coruscant and such several times... It'll deviate widely besides that though I think.

The "lightclub" color is hard to pinpoint. Its not quite pink, not quite purple.

Aye, the only digital parts are the color, the sabers, Anakin's scar (and part of his hair since I forgot to draw it on the hand-drawn version lol). And now, Padme's eyes.

Looks like someone could watch a bit of bonus footage to find out the little purple lightsaber fiasco. Samuel L. Jackson simply asked George why purple wasn't an available color, and George says, "Sure. Purple works." There ya go. Have fun watching the bonus features. I particularly like the deleted scene at Padme's house when her family thinks Anakin is her boyfriend. A bit of comic relief there...

Maces is purple for a few reasons.
1. Its a compomise for Samuel Jackson, he wished he had red, but hes a jedi. So he mixed red and blue.
2. Mace is a jedi, taunting the dark side with his style. So his personality shows in his saber. Darkside + Lightside = Purple

The source I was working off of at the time she had the Leia buns, so I decided to go with 'em too. Figured it would indicate I was trying to lean a bit more in an OT direction anyway.

Rive, I really don't know what to say on this one. This has the potential to be an amazingly good read, but on the other hand- why would somebody (yes, even Rive Caedo) re-write the prequels?
