How did the Ewoks beat one of the Empire's best legions?!?
Another blog today which although I've seen before got me thinking. "Sure, the whole point of the battle was showing the meek can overthrow the powerful, but why not have a better in-universe explanation?

"Almost every Stormtrooper at the Battle of Endor was part of "An entire legion of the Emperor's best troops" (based off the quote from Palpatine: "An entire legion of my best troops awaits them! Oh, I'm afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive.") thusly it was composed of many of the final clones still fit to fight.

The failing of this was that they were so programmed to only follow orders, that when the Ewoks attacked the clone troops were incapable of fighting back because their only order was "Capture the Rebel scum" nothing about shooting natives. The panicking commanders were too busy fleeing from the Ewok army to bark some orders to the last bit of old-fashioned Jango soldiers (Stormtrooper armor was nigh impervious except upon repeated beating, but the officers were afraid of getting a nasty blow to the head or arrow in the back) .

Thusly the ATST pilots and the few non-clonetroopers in the Emperor's legion (who were less skilled in any case) were able to fight back against the Ewoks, and failed miserably against their overwhelming numbers."

I'm not sure if I like it myself, since I'm currently firmly in the realm of thought that all clonetroopers would be dead and outlawed by Episode IV, still...

Does this seem to work for you?
