Some thoughts on our current Blog features and the future.
1.
Is 50 comments enough?
Generally it is, because a Blog falls into the depths with only 2-20 comments, but once an important and informative blog (
hint hint
) makes it into the top 6 (putting it on the main page), 50 just doesn't seem to be enough.
2.
Is the character limit on comments enough?
Personally, I think it is, it's usually enough to answer a question, or comment on something. So it helps to prevent "Blog-jacking". It can be a little restrictive in
some cases though.
3.
Enough categories?
Fan Activities
Original Trilogy
Prequel Trilogy
Collecting
Expanded Universe
Gaming
Regional
Miscellaneous
Seems to have things pretty well covered, but do you think we should have additional more specific categories? "Books", "Art", or the one this would fit in "Starwars.com" or "Blogs" (though that could be misinterpreted as all blogs fitting in there, not just blogs discussing blogging
4.
Image posting.
Don't get me wrong; I'm glad the image feature is there at all. Would it be that damaging if we could link to any picture (Within a size limit of course) within the starwars.com domain?
5.
Blog Space Limit.
This seems to be plenty for most people, and doubtless is to prevent over-strain on the blog servers, however this brings me to the primary topic:
Would you support a "Blog Rating system"?
Used mostly by forums and such, a system such as this would grant privileges
(Extra blog space, ability to post more than 1 picture per blog, ability to change font size, ability to post pictures from outside the blog system archive, etc). As your credibility (based on a simple "thumbs up, thumbs down" system people can rate your blogs on) goes up over time, these additional privileges are granted, if you abuse them, people will "Thumbs down" your entries and you'll rather rapidly lose them. Controlling entries.
