((Woo!
The Star Wars TV Show Guide is up on the front page for the first time))

Ok so
a long time ago I briefly explored the "
OT then PT"
vs. "
PT then OT" debate,
last time I explored a
nearly completely fragmented view of the saga. The near fragmented view did force the loss of the plot twist that Luke and Leia are twins.
Thus the depressed twins pictured -->
So this time I'll take a look at a
truely completely fragmented view.
Keep in mind these are mostly analysis of methods to show the films to a
first time viewer, it could still be fun for a repeat viewer however...
____________
IV, I, V, II, VI, III
____________
So here's the viewer's thought process:
Episode IV:
Well we pretty much all know what starting off with Episode IV feels like, the Jedi are extinct, Old Ben fights and loses to the man who killed Luke's father.
Episode I:
So now I get to see Luke's father? And Obi-Wan? Ok neat, so the Jedi are still around, Darth Vader hasn't shown up yet. Wow, all these Jedi like Yoda can feel that Anakin is going to be killed by Vader? Yep, I'd call that a cloudy future.
Episode V:
Back to Luke now is it? Wow that Yoda fellow is still alive? Who's this Emperor guy anyway? Kinda looks like that Darth Sidious fellow in Episode 1. I suppose this Anakin fellow must have been pretty powerful if they're scared of his son... *fast forward* Wait that IS Anakin? Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father? No way, how did
THAT happen?
Episode II:
Oh, he married that Padme chick? I guess that's how that happened. I guess I can kind of see how Anakin turned into Vader, what with killing all those sand people. How did it REALLY happen though?
Episode VI:
Poor Yoda. Obi-Wan's talking about Anakin turning to the Dark Side again, and getting in the suit, how did that happen? Luke and Leia are brother and sister?!
We've saved BOTH plot twists now, that Vader is Luke's father AND that Luke and Leia are brother and sister (and the viewer won't get grossed out the first time seeing Empire Strikes Back). As a bonus, due to Palpatine never being called Palpatine OR Sidious during Return of the Jedi, there still may be a bit of a shock that Palpatine becomes the Emperor in Episode III for the slower among the population.
Ok so the complex bit is here: Stop Return of the Jedi right after the scene where Luke tells Leia she's his sister. Then watch Revenge of the Sith.
Episode III:
So
that's how it all happened. But what happens to Vader after all of this stuff?!
Then put Return of the Jedi back in from where you left off (as a neat little bonus you get some added suspence of Padme and Luke both saying "There's still good in him" back to back)
then watch the saga's thrilling conclusion.
Episode VI:
Wow. After all the work Palpatine did he gets killed by his own apprentice. (And for those new viewers watching the 2004+ DVD's you get the added bonus of having the OT plot twists unspoiled AND
Hayden Christensen's force ghost at the end of VI making complete sense)
With plot twists unspoiled and the backstory intact all you lose is the fact that Anakin will turn to the Dark Side in Episode III. Think about what you gain though.
Any other problems with this order? It's interesting to think about at least, isn't it?
