I already reported my personal thoughts on Serenity in this blog here (SPOILER HEAVY) and a review here (No Spoilers), now I'd like to briefly look at its current state in a more global sense however.

How much advertising have you seen for Serenity? Besides maybe the trailer?

...Yeah...
I think it's doing pretty well for being marketed almost purely on word of mouth. Besides *maybe* the original Star Wars which started off with fairly light advertising I think (could just be an exaggeration continued through documentaries like "Empire of Dreams". I wasn't there to see the initial release... Don't over think that, I prefer to be thought of as a wise old man) Serenity seems fairly impressive thus far in its sales. Performing at roughly the same rate as much more widely advertised and well-known (though poorly reviewed) Star Trek: Nemesis.

What does that mean for the film's future? People still haven't seen it. Many haven't even heard of it. Word of mouth needs to continue spreading (Hey look! I'm helping! ) in order for it to be a sleeper hit like The Matrix and Star Wars.

One of the biggest problems supposedly is people walking out of the theater during the first 10 minutes because the film starts off so strangely. Don't do that if you haven't seen it. It gets much better and makes more sense after that.

Sorry if these brief Firefly/Serenity excursions don't interest you. I want another great Sci-Fi series to stay in production. Spread the word! I'll see Serenity 2 get made or die... well... not trying, but slightly sadder.
