I haven't really discussed it, but I'm a fairly avid gamer, this may become an ongoing series of thoughts on older games. Figured I should start off with the most talked about title as of late though.

Unfortunately my main percpective with the game currently stands as thus: Play it on a LAN or a
very very good and reliable online server, otherwise if you are lucky enough to play our favorite Sith Lord you will quickly fall pray to
the bane of Jedi everywhere.
LAG
That's seriously the only thing holding this back from being put immediately into my library, I've never encountered lag this bad. On almost every server. Whether this is due to the game itself, or just Beta servers being unreliable is unknown to me.
But you have no idea how annoying it can be to be playing Darth Vader, seemingly slicing a rebel engineer apart with thy saber... Only to 5 seconds later be staring at the huddled over corpse of Skywalker Senior blown to a quick (unseen by you due to lag) death by a casually placed detonation pack behind you by that very same
Rebel Scum you thought you were cutting the limbs off of. (It also makes space almost entirely unplayable)
This does of course open up completely new ways to look at the "How did Obi-Wan beat Anakin in Episode III using just
high ground?" Anakin obviously
lagged.
While the core of the game is still the troopers, heroes are, as other blogs indicate: The most interesting aspect of the game. From what I've gathered servers set options such as "Let the player with the most points be the hero" or "The least points".
Currently available in the beta are Utapau and the Tantive IV for ground missions. Each playable in either the Prequel or Original era.
Han Solo vs. Boba Fett has probably been one of my favorite match ups. Han packs a punch with his DL-44 but it can be tough to hit our favorite mid-air bounty hunter. Pretty balanced.
Vader vs. Leia a properly played Vader wins, and rightly so. Control of your block stance will defeat the blaster-wielding princess. Not balanced exactly, but a well played Vader should beat pretty much anything 1 on 1 in my opinion anyway.
Obi-Wan vs. Grievous AND Yoda vs. Grievous: You know, some people have discussed why Obi-Wan and other Jedi don't use force push and pull more often in the movies. I'll tell you why. It ends any fight, with even Grievous, in
5.6 seconds, the movies would be too short

Seriously a well played Obi-Wan or Yoda will ALWAYS beat Grievous.
I suppose the developers didn't like Grievous being able to you know...
Kill Jedi in things like the Clone Wars cartoons.
All in all, it's alot of fun, but can be fairly annoying if you plan to play online. The lags not stopping me from trying to play though, so I guess that speaks volumes.
