Star Wars: The TV Show: Episode I
I had mixed feelings when the Star Wars TV show set between Episodes III and IV was announced. Eventually of course the "Yay! Any Star Wars is good Star Wars!" part of me prevailed. Without many details on the series besides the fact that it won't "feature" any of the main characters from the Prequel or Original Trilogies, we haven't got much to go on besides the fact Young Boba Fett may have a role.

I haven't seen anything confirmed but rumor has it that they've already begun plans for 100 episodes so I'm guessing four seasons of 25 episodes each, or five seasons of 20 episodes each.

My guess is they'll want to keep the Star Wars feel, but to what extent?

All six Star Wars films have 3 things in common, the opening crawl, the end of the film having no dialogue only music and being followed by the traditional blue credits, and lots and lots of John Williams music.

It just wouldn't be Star Wars without an opening crawl, but I'm kind of starting to hope they won't have an episode number, just a title. "Shadow of Byss" sounds better than "Episode LXXXVII: Shadow of Byss" to me. And they'll probably shorten the crawl from the traditional 3 paragraphs to 1. Even at that I hope seeing their 97th opening crawl doesn't turn casual audiences away.

The credits will likely remain their traditional blue font with Williams music, however will they really try to make each and every episode end with pure music? This could be difficult to achieve in any 2-part episodes (season finales) Lucasfilm (Lucastelevision?) attempts since many Sci-fi series end these episodes with a dramatic line ("Set self-destruct", "They're going to blow up the station!" "He's a traitor!", etc.) Followed immediately by the credits.

Most importantly, it's not Star Wars without John Williams music, I don't think they'll be able to remix and hash up our current library to fill over 100 episodes, but will Lucasfilm really pony up the dough to have Williams write a song or two for each and every episode? And pay an orchestra to play it? That can't be cheap, and coupled with crew and cast costs; it could start to outweigh profits....

So what are your thoughts? Can it really be Star Wars without an episode number and John Williams music?
