What if Darth Maul won...
Well, short and sweet "What if?" topics seem to be fairly popular, so I thought I'd throw my own into the mix.

What if Darth Maul had simply killed Obi-wan after Qui-gon?

Without Obi-wan's direct backing Anakin wouldn't have been trained, Anakin wouldn't have become a Jedi (at least not with a master). Padme wouldn't have fallen in love with him... Well, you see where this is going.

Basically everything would have changed if Maul had just killed Obi-wan while he was hanging in the pit.

Just a few examples, could Palpatine have taken over without Anakin? Would he have been overthrown more or less quickly? With Maul still as his apprentice what would Palpatine have done? He needed Dooku to start the war.

Well i'm just suprised that he killed Qui-Gon.
I mean he's only an apprentice image him as a sith master he might have been stronger than Sidious a.k.a Palpatine.
Now that would be scary
p.s long live Darman

Yes I suppose this one is fairly open ended. But Osilio pretty much hits what I was talking about. What would Anakin have grown up to be if not a Jedi? Would he have stayed out of trouble long enough to join the Rebels? (assuming Palpatine still took over). Or would he have become a self-trained Dark Force Wielder? Hm... *wishes he had the talent to make his own infinities comic. :)

An other surprise: not much of difference (in the theory). The Anakin - Padme couple already was set. Anakin destroyed the TF ship regardless of Maul and was about to be Padawan. Open question: would be Maul enough to take a serious action on Naboo or not. Palaptine was winner regardless of the situation. The Gugngan Grand Army + Naboo guard was too much for a single Sith - Palpy did need Maul more than risk him further. O-1-K and Anakin never really had chemistry, Anakin will get a master who is older/better/wiser than young O-1-K, There won't be Mustafar, but Palpy will be still an excellent bowling ball rolling down reactor core.

Good point about the Anakin Padme couple already being set! I don't think anyone but Obi-wan would be willing to train Anakin though since the council didn't want him to be trained. So maybe everything would have worked out fine for Anakin, there wouldn't have been the Jedi Code to keep him from having an open relationship with Padme.

Of course would Padme really have fallen in love with him if he didn't have his fancy fruit floating tricks? :)

That was what caught her attention, so this is a highly debatable issue.
The saga would have a lot less action & plot holes (Kenobi''s in Ep IV! Released 28 yrs ago!) and *sniff* I'd miss Obi-Wan.
