Why didn't the Emperor show up as a Jedi Hologram in RotJ?
I recently found this niche of culture online.

An archive of Star Wars online discussion... In 1983. Right after Return of the Jedi came out!

I love this! it's like a glimpse into our past. The recent past that we're continuing as the next generation here on the starwars.com blogs and message boards.

Unfortunately, one might say we're all too the same.

The basis of the title came from this message.

Well... At least we don't call them holograms anymore :D
Even back then people were thinking about the Jedi purge and why a "horde" of good Jedi didn't appear to Luke. This had a resurgence during the Prequels before Qui-Gon was established as being the "First" to achieve consciousness after death.

People were already planning crazy marathons.

People were already (accurately) predicting the Prequels (and Sequels)

People were already confused about types of troopers, even before we had like... 54 types of clones.

People were already discussing debates that still rage in some circles (both interpretations work out pretty well I'd say and it makes Obi-Wan less sexist :) )

Accusing Mr. Lucas of plagiarism :D

Discussing characters motives (That's a good one actually)

Taking polls to bring some solace on debates.

Predicting girls fawning over Hayden before he gets burned up :p

Trying to save characters they loved (ooo this one worked!)

Discussing Leia's mother. This has been a big one lately.

More ghost discussion.

Discussing the application of physics in Star Wars. A debate currently raging.

Accidentally hitting the "Post topic" button early :p

Doing some pretty in-depth analysis and conjuncture (Another good thing)

Complaining about Stormtrooper armor. Always a fan favorite topic :)

Discussing force powers and their relative power levels.

Complaining more!

Being confused about Vader's height. Another thing that's had a massive resurgence thanks to Hayden indeed being too short.

The eternal Vader's body debate! The jury's still out on this one!

1138!
(Yep, it wasn't in there, that doesn't stop people from asking about it every 2 weeks or so though)

Hurray for 1983 flaming people of people who post false information!

(one of my favorites) People making fun of Vader's last scene. It happened in Episode III with "Nooooo!" it happened back then too it seems.

Hopefully you gained some insight from this glance into our past.

Some questions I thought of while reading.

How many of these people saw Episode III and could still be among us?

What will online disccussions be like around 2030?

Are we better or worse off with much larger communities like today?

How many more eternal debates will rise with 100 hours of additional adventrues to consider?
