Don't know what the Star Wars TV Series is? Check out my ongoing
Star Wars TV Show Guide.

Well there's been no news that I've seen about Star Wars TV in weeks so I suppose that means it's time for more discussion about the show we know almost nothing about!
Topic at hand today:
Jedi in the series
To start off I'm going to say if you think there
won't be Jedi in the TV series you're a naive fool. Jedi are perhaps the most identifiable element of Star Wars and I'd say the odds of there not being at least one or two in the series is approximately 3720 to 1.
But how many
should there be is the question here, and in effect, how effective was Order 66?
We know the series is between Episodes III and IV, but we don't know exactly when it will take place in that nearly 2 decade time period. I'd venture to guess that it will be within a few years of Episode III ending mostly due to it currently being fresher in people's minds. There is of course a slight chance that it will span the entire time period, skipping forward a few months with each episode. Due to the amount of work this would take and the fact that new actors would have to be hired (unless they worked some makeup magic to allow the same actor/actress to play the same part at ages spanning 2 decades).
Working off the first theory, that it will be sometime shortly after Episode III. How many Jedi are alive?
By Episode IV it's evident that the Jedi are nearly extinct and in the words of Tarkin "Their fire has gone out of the universe". What about say... 15 years before that though? Is it that far fetched that a large number of Jedi padawans and low ranking knights would have escaped Order 66? They wouldn't have necessarily been in close proximity to a massive number of clones or the Jedi Temple. The
best example of this (that happens to be available to all Hyperspace members) is the current running webstrip
Evasive Action: Recruitment.
This is how I feel Jedi shortly after Episode III should be, on the run, in hiding, in constant danger, powerless to effect the
full scale of the changes the galaxy is taking... But not extinct.
The era up until a few years before Episode IV starts is in fact almost completely open in terms of the expanded universe. Sure it may mess a few things up like the prequels did but this could open up a whole new perspective on Episode IV. Rick McCallum said the series will answer many of the questions people still have. Well here are a few I have...
Who was Vader referring to when he said "There'll be no one to stop us this time"?
Was it merely reverence for his old master when Vader stated "Don't underestimate the Force" in response to Tarkin's opinion of Obi-Wan "Surely he must be dead by now" or was there something more that happened after the Jedi Purge to make Vader doubt his master is dead?
Why don't the Cantina dwellers pay more attention to Obi-Wan having a lightsaber?
But
MOST importantly.
Why does it take the Empire almost twenty years to get enough power to shut down the Imperial Senate and keep control of the galaxy?
The opening crawl states that the
Rebellion has earned its
FIRST victory against the Empire just before Episode IV opens.
It doesn't say anything about the
Jedi remnants however.
So what's your opinion? Is it possible that the Jedi formed some sort of resistance to the Empire during that time which slowed their progress in taking an iron grip on the galaxy and could only be stopped shortly before Episode IV?
Or were Luke and Leia the only hope left all along?
