Battlefront II: First Impressions
Wow, long time no blog. Over 2 weeks it looks like... Suppose there could be several new members browsing by now, so go back and look at some of my other entries there should be about 75 of them by now :)

So I didn't break down and buy the mighty Battlefront I

I didn't break down and buy the mighty Battlefront II last month

I didn't break down and tell anyone I might be interested in it as a gift.

Why not? Probably because I'm a stubborn Original Trilogy Fan that kept saying "I still gots my Kyle Katarn in Jedi Knight III, and that's the ways I likes it!". That and I figured I could wait until the price came down a bit.

Regardless of all these factors, due to a friend aware of the depth of my Star Wars Fandom... I got it.

So what do I think so far?
I've played through the campaign up to the Death Star or so.
I've played through a game of conquest.
I've played a few games of Hero Assault offline.

So basically: I haven't really played it since the core of Battlefront is online.

The campaign is a fair bit of fun, despite some minor continuity issues (The Empire not changing cloning templates until after the Death Star I is completed, Boba Fett being refered to as a "Young" Bounty Hunter despite him being likely 30+ years old by then which would likely be "Seasoned" in the world of Bounty Hunters, Naboo having dozens of Jedi).

I didn't even realize "conquest" was in the game until I loaded it. Good to see a game-mode where previous battles effect the next one.

Hero Assault is of course that guilty little pleasure spurred by hours of Jedi Outcast matches. I love how (seemingly, I haven't done deep analysis of course) each Jedi has their own style/animations, Anakin having his agressive style while Dooku has his directed controlled strokes. Above all I love how they made the Emperor automatically deactivate his saber after using it to keep him in line with his character. It shows effort on the part of the designers.

That's about all so far, I'm sure I'll have another brief writeup after I've finished the campaign, done a few more modes, and of course: Tried online play.

But seriously... I want my Kyle as a hidden hero :)
