So you may or may not have heard about
that little Roleplaying community that fractured off from the blog system and went off to their own little forum at I'm still not exactly sure how it happened... But now I'm one of the people in charge
over there
Anyway, a little
Sith communtiy split off too over at and the two boards have been interacting with eachother in roleplays and such. It's all been fairly friendly, but you never know when things could break out into an arguement and then a flamewar so there was talk of creating a fair and balanced battle system to settle conflicts.
Then I got sick yesterday and couldn't sleep and decided to make my own version
I take no responsibillity for anything that is confusing, too complex, or typoed. Most of it was concieved at 3AM.
You can take a glance at my handiwork at
here.
So what did I realize while designing the first stages of my little game?
Dice may be random and non-strategic in some cases... But they sure make designing a game a
whole bunch easier. Still: Since it was technically designed for a message board:
No dice. You get 10 points per round to spend, no luck involved... I miss dice so much.
Always run through your base rules before moving on... I was about 2 pages into my sleep deprived scribblings before I realized there was a hole in the rules that would allow the first player moving to win everytime... Those 2 pages involving "Abillities" are now scrapped until I can rework them
And most importantly: I have about 500 times more respect for all pen-and-paper RPGers, be they Star Wars RPG, Dungeons and Dragons, or Serenity gamers. I must have made at least 3 basic addition and subtraction mistakes when running through my little "sample scenerio" semi-recreation of the Mustafar Duel.... Some of this may have been due to it being 3 AM though...
Ugh... I need sleep.
If you bother to read any of the few understandable rules down there, go ahead and comment on them. If you can't understand a bloody thing about it... Well you could always comment on sleep deprivation or Dungeons and Dragons players.
