The Action Figure Archive by Steve Sansweet and Josh Ling put something of a mistaken idea about guardsmen into the mix of fandom. According to the photo caption on the POTF2 figure, the guards in the deleted scene were attacking Moff Jerjerrod.
"Not even Imperial officers are safe from retribution from the Royal Guards" or words to that effect. Hyperspace has a much better photo which proves what I said long ago, that Vader was the target of the guards, who was at the moment choking Jerjerrod for denying him entry to see the Emperor.
"None shall pass" is the entry in the Hyperspace album.
