Hello to all!
After a long hiatus I am back to blog more of my mind's gleaming!
Those of you who are fellow college basketball fans have to be foaming at the mouth like I am for the NCAA Men's and Women's tournaments to start! No one team (though Connecticut on the men's side and North Carolina on the women's side come close) looks like a lock to win the Men's or Women's titles. Championship week has been a beast and the Big East (Men's Conference) looks to be placed all over the bracket of 65 (a possible 9 teams could be selected). I don't like the idea of superconferences in any college sport but it's hard to argue against the Big East and how the 16 teams have done, South Florida being the exception.
I like the idea of the World Baseball Classic but Bud dropped the ball (again) by not eliminating the All-Star game and playing the games that week in July (which would be better for everyone) and keeeping the season the same length. I don't want to shorten the season and these guys for the most part don't play every game of a season anyway. It's not like they can't rest a few days before and after the Classic if they move it to July. That Dominican Republic batting order is murder! If they eliminated the All-Star game we could get back to the alternating format for the World Series which is how I like it. I think the Yankees would have been better off going to Florida the last year they were in the Series.
One more loss by the Pistons and we can quit all this 70 win talk. They do have the best team in the NBA for sure but they are not 70 win material. It would be a huge blow to their team ego too if Darko actually makes himself into a good caliber NBA player too. Larry Brown is not a good coach for young players and that is why the US team failed in Athens (among the other reasons: No shooters, porous perimeter defense, and only one real post player (Tim Duncan, Jermaine O'Neal plays more slashing to the hoop then back to the basket) to speak of and why Darko lost all confidence. Truth be told however and I don't think he really can play or grasp the fast pace of the NBA game. Few Europeans have been able to adjust to the NBA style but those that have are the most awesome players I have ever seen from that part of the world.
Thank God the NFL can get a Collective Bargaining Agreement done!! The owners and players may not like each other but they do have a nice rapport about keeping their business stable and going (Are you looking, listening, and taking notes MLB, NHL, and NBA?). They averted an uncapped year and they got the players a bigger piece of the pie with a bit of revenue sharing to make the game better. Thanks to John Mara, Dan Rooney, and Jerry Jones the owners came on board and joined with the players and Paul Tagliabue to get things done. It is no wonder they have had labor peace for most of their history (the strike shortened seasons of 1981 and 1987 aside and even then there was no more than six weeks of using replacement players) and why they are the most watched professional sport in the country on TV. Now if only they would start Monday Night football at an acceptable time so those on the East Coast can get to sleep at an acceptable time, lol (they also need to be flexible with the matchups so we can get the best teams playing on Monday night and not teams that are horrible when their time comes up to play on Monday night)!
That is all I have today. I hope you all enjoy! Stay safe and May the Force be with You!
