Star Wars: Dark Empire is one of the most controversial comic books;
some hate it, some love it, some doubt it, some praise it; the sure thing is,
it is the most famous Star Wars comic book ever.
It's subject is the final crisis of the galaxy, were Palpatine returns and turns Luke to the Dark Side. Luke must defeat Palpatine, who "lives as energy, and IS the Dark Side".
Issue 1: It contradicts the Prophecy of the Chosen One.
Luckily, it doesn't; whoever says agrees with this issue has not fully understood the prophecy itself.
Plus, Chee has said that, when Palpatine tells Luke that before his death on Death Star II he had put his spirit in clones, he lied.
Anakin killed Palpatine and balance was brought at the time; but the disturbance came back.
Issue 2: The idea of bringing Palpatine back is stupid.
If you ask me or Lucas, there is no better way to give Star Wars a seventh episode; Lucas gave his employees Dark Empire copies as Christmas presents.
Issue 3: Where does Palpatine get the ability to create the Devastators?
Six years are more than enough; Plus, the Empire had lost a huge battle,
not it's own existance.
Everything in Dark Empire is epic, from Luke turning to the dark side to the final duel between the Jedi Master and Emperor Palpatine on Eclipse that resulted a Force Storm and Palpatine's final death.
Note: Dark Empire is Dark Empire I, not it's sequels. They are lame.
