I had some free time today and went to see ROTS again. You know I guess you have to be a fan to really get why anyone would want to see a movie 4 times in the theater. I find myself not wanting to volunteer this to my boyfriend who is reportedly by his own admission a "casual fan." I honestly don't want to have to deal with having to explain myself as to why I'd want to see this movie again. Partly, I want to hold on to the movie franchise. I am sad to see it end and I feel empty knowing that it's going to be gone and the commercials will stop running on tv, the merchandise will cease to be stocked on the shelves and all the fun will end. I do look forward to the DVD to see the deleted scenes, but still it won't be the same. I enjoy finding the easter eggs. I enjoy being around people who enjoy watching it. I love having a new perspective on the movie every time I watch it. The action and special effects never get old. I am also heartbroken every time I see Obi-Wan and Padme feel betrayed by Anakin. I love to see the twins, they are so cute and I don't even like kids. I love R2 and all his antics. I kinda feel like Yoda when he leaves Kashyyk and says goobye to Tarful and Chewy "goodbye, I will miss you." Yes, like MSNBC said, it is the end of the Super Fan. I don't think anything movie trilogy will make me be as devoted as I am to Star Wars. I am actually annoyed to see the previews to Fantastic 4 and War of the Worlds. They symbolize the world moving on and leaving Star Wars behind.
