Jaster and Boba are not one!
now ive been through many webstites of the mandalorians i have many books and so i think i can say i know these two just arent the same. some maybe thinking right now what the hell is he on about , well some are saying that boba fett is indeed jaster mareel, and this i cant let continue its the stupidest thing ive ever heard! and here are my reasons why it cant be true:
1. jaster mareel trained jango fett and took him in as a son after finding him as a newly made orphan on a colony on the madalorian world concord-dawn.

2.boba fett is jangos clone making him 2 generations after jaster mareel

3.jaster mareel unfortuatley died in an ambush against the rouge mandalorians "death watch" where jango survied but was imprisoned

4.jasters death occured befor the phantom menace approximatly 15 years before those events and boba wasnt even born! whilst boba does not die till long after the events of return of the jedi

so given that i have this evidence any one who would like to continue in beliving their the same please comment and tell me why im not dissing you but i have all this and i need to know where this strange theory came from.

You've hit on one of the many continuity snafu's that the prequel trilogy have brought up. (Like Ben and Owen being brothers, which was accepted Star Wars lore until Clones)
Boba was introduced in the Star Wars Holiday Special (I whispered that, GL will have me shot for talking about it loud) and was expanded upon in Empire. Marvel had the comics license at the time and, with GL just thinking that Fett was a minor character and not realising his enormous popularity, allowed Marvel to give Fett the Mandalorian back history, Fenn Shysha, Concorde Dawn etc.

As years passed and the novels returned there began a glut of conflicting stories regarding his history, which (so editors say) served his mysterious past. The timeline you have posted is correct in 2005. It's called retro-fitting the timeline (kind of what ILM did with designing the PT to fit the OT) and it goes on all the time.
Good blog question!

I have no idea that some people believed Jaster and Boba are the same...

ive known that jaster and Boba are not one in the same, who said they were one in the same. i ve read the open series comic volume so i know who jaster is. the bounty hunter video game also has an unlockable look at this comic and it shows how jaster died because of Montross, and how Jango took over his place of leader of the mandalorians.

One of the short stories somewhere (I can't remember which one, it was in one of the "tales of" books) named the character Jaster Moreel as Boba Fett's identity before he became a bounty hunter. Other stories gave him a different background and the editors let all this slide, like janlomona said, because it contributed to Fett's "mysterious past". I don't know when Jaster's story was fleshed out, but I didn't see it until after AOTC, when we first met Jango. So I assumed this was a retro to explain who Jaster Moreel was and why he was equated with Boba Fett. But that short story was where the Boba=Jaster theory originated, before the full Jaster story, or Boba's true history, was ever created.

Yes indeed this confusion spawns from the first stories on Fett like the Tales from the Bounty Hunters. Later on in comics Jaster turns out to be a seperate char.
Basically the Fett history has a lot of EU problems and contradictions especially with Jango popping up. (not that i mind, Jango rocks)
