I was watching AOTC the today, and I noticed something sort of peculiar about Padme at her and Ani's wedding. So, I was all into the movie, as always, thinking about how romantic it was when it finally came to the scene where they kiss. As they lean in, both are passionate and you can see the fire burning in their eyes, but when they are finished I noticed that Padme was frowning. Anakin had a look of his pure love and devotion to Padme and then he smiles. Padme on the other hand has this look on her face that pretty much says " WHAT did I just get myself into??" Wouldn't you think that she should be smiling and what not? I mean it's her wedding day, the most wonderful day of her life!! That's when a thought hit me.

Could Padme have almost forseen the future events that would lead to her tragic end? It's almost like Padme could sense, if you will, that marrying Anakin would guide to a horrible event. It's like when their lips met in the kiss that sealed their destiny together as one, it finally came to her. You'd think that if anyone could sense something it would be Anakin, but that's where his obsession with Padme comes in. I think that Anakin may have been able to forsee what the future would come to if he let himself love Padme, but he was too blinded by love to see the truth. He loved her so much that he was unable to see what a dangerous position he had put his beloved Padme in. This is such strong irony because Anakin loved her so much, he caused the very thing he was trying to prevent for three years. This is why the scenes are so emotionally powerful. Padme wasn't obssesed with Anakin, she deeply loved him more than anything, but it wasn't obsession. This is why she could see it and Anakin couldn't. She could see past the love and desire and knew that unfortunate events would follow closely to her newly made commitment.
